The path of the ego is suffering. It is a long path and it leads to the dissolution of the ego.

Egoistic person will bloat his ego so much that one day it will be blasted and he will understand in due course that his ego was just the shadow of the super ego .He was a witness rest all is nature and he was dragged into it.To understand the super ego ego is a necessity .Every person takes his own time nothing is wrong in becoming egoistic unless it harms others only thing is we have to be watchful.

every path is tainted with ego- it's only when we realize that there is nowhere to go, nothing to do..only something to Be

you get there when you realize you are there already...which is another way of saying, you have dropped the ego and the path

Namaste back at you--Peace and Love to all (All)....Greetings, Digilook! So many think of ego in a superficial way (he's egotistical, she's selfish, etc.), and while the surface understandings are true, there is a larger, more encompassing quality to ego--the false self, the ego-self--that has fallen into separation from the whole and, therefore, creates its own suffering. This ego sees all as "outside" itself, as the "other," apart and different from itself. Of course, with this view, the ego references all its experiences to its own happiness and comfortability. The Buddhists call this self-cherishing. This self view experiences impermanence in the relative field of duality, where one can never find lasting satisfaction or happiness due to the changing states of mind and changing situations--polarization from love to hate, dark to light, calm to fury, joy to disappointment, trust to betrayal, etc.--the full spectrum from one extreme to another. This pendulum-like experiencing is caused by the ego's "attachment" to outcomes--we are never satisfied with "what is," or if we are, then it soon changes, and we suffer over our inability to capture that positive experience (love, financial stability, success in our field, peace, etc.). Suffering is of the ego's immature understanding and its "grasping" or "clinging" to fixed outcomes. Since in this world of polarity/duality everything inevitably "changes," the path of the ego can only lead to suffering. When one begins to see how the self-centered ego betrays itself, one can choose to observe one's behaviors and thoughts, see that they do not bring lasting satisfactions, and drop them. Meditation is the best means of observing the false self with its chaotic mind chatter and coming into a resonance with All That Is, into oneness and non-separation. I am Sirius

It leads to dust. All things return to their source and it's source is the dust of this world. You live temporal you become temporal.

Attachments is more tricky, because man in mind is in division, and unconsciously each divided part will reach out to what entices it, given the stimulation, so you become a different person in face of diverse circumstances/experiences.
