I know but we are all so human its hard not to be attached just think about not feeling human not feeling love not feeling pain and real tears its a natural human thing. We can not pretend that we do not have these feelings for people, pets, place, objects etc...

I think though the danger lies in attaching yourself say for example to another that does not care about you at all and you are tormented over it because you really love that person so much you would do anything for them hehehe the love anyway my point is attachment is part of the human condition and if you cease to be attached you are not living as a human being or you are monk or nun and even they are attached to certain things namely God :)) which is a beautiful and blessed thing :))

The only alternative is death. Ever meet somebody who is depressed. Someone who stops making attachments. They just don’t care anymore. Not about anything. To the point were they don’t eat or drink they just want to curl up in a ball and die…

Has found the key to be graceful attachments.

Another thing to chew on is do you learn more form a pleasurable experience or a painful one?

Most of us need a certain amount of things and I certainly like some things that I don't really need but I don't become deeply attached to them, I know that I'm only the caretaker for a short while and then they'll be passed or sold on to others. Keeping it real, things don't bring pain & suffering it's only our attitude that can do that.

I get attached to people not things--LOL
Attachment brings pain and suffering that is true but if you miss all the pain then you also miss "the dance".
Joy comes with pain my friend and to me the pain is worth it.

Attachment is in our biological scheme since birth. We therefore thrive on and are determined to maintain our human attachments since birth: it is encoded in us as a sort of survival instinct. We are attached to our mothers ar birth; any disruption in that attachment can lead to crippling fear of abandonment later in life. So therefore, attachment is somehow linked to an evolutionary instinct for our survival.

The flip side can be that you don't get much enjoyment out of your things then. Hey, it's perfectly legit to love your car or motorcycle, to take good care of them, to buy accessories for them. To hurt when they get a scratch or ding.

The key is to not let that go too far. Like my husband does! He washes his car at LEAST weekly. And god forbid a bird should take a crap on it afterwards! LOL - he takes it as a personal attack.

One of our neighbors even said to him "Damn! Why don't you just drive it into the house?"

This is a lesson I wish he'd learn, for sure.

I like to think of things this way. What would you save if everything you owned was on fire? Would all your (things) be more important than the people you love?

We can't escape it, that's what life is all about! Your human and humans do those things.
