Selling the truck that I was awarded during the divorce. Can not find the title, neither can the ex. How do I get a duplicate title to sign over to buyer?

Seeing as you do not list the state where the vehicle was titled, I have to be general. Go to whatever agency (DMV, MVA, Secretary of State) that you go to when you need tags, and apply for a duplicate title. They may be able to print you one there, or it may need to be mailed to you, but you will be able to get it!

Take as much information as you can with you. If the vehicle is currently registered, take the registration card. If not, take the VIN and if you have an old registration card bring it too!

You go to the DMV, and fill out an "application for duplicate title", pay the fee, and they send it to you. Or rather, they send it to the person who's name is on the front of the title, or to the bank, if there's still a lein on it.

OH, and if there WAS a lein on it, check with the bank - see if they forgot to mail the title out to you when it got paid off, or if they mailed it to the wrong address, and it got returned to them.

In Wisconsin, you can go to the DMV and apply for a lost title. They will give you a replacement title, for a fee.
