MY SONS PS3 WAS PURCHASED FROM JAPAN. HE IS ABLE TO PLAY THE GAMES THAT CAME WITH THE CONSOLE FROM JAPAN BUT DOESNT SEEM TO BE ABLE TO PLAY THE ONES WE HAVE BOUGHT HERE IN THE UK. DOES ANYBODY KNOW HOW I CAN RESOLVE THIS ISSUE AS IT IS OBVIOUSLY ANNOYING FOR HIM. ANY ADVICE WILL BE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

Just spoke to somebody from Sony and they told me that it is probably regionally locked !! Sorry for the yelling

Now I am very confused as I have been told that PS3 is not regionally locked for gaming but just dvds and that is the beauty of the PS3. Help!!!

First off, stop yelling. No need to yell your information and question. Now on to the question. There should be no reason as to why your games will not play, the PS3 is not region locked, meaning that you can play games for any region as long as the format is correct. So, with that said, make sure that the PS3 that you bought is the correct format (PAL or NTSC) and make sure that the games you've purchased match that format. My guess is that the games don't match the format of the unit you have purchased.

I, personally, was under the same impression and this is the first time i've heard anyone have a problem.
This does only apply to PS3 games though, not PS1 or 2, if that helps.

PS3 games are region free, I play PAL games on my NTSC console.
There is a chance, that your TV doesn't support NTSC signal.
