other than I know I want to get married in the Caribbean.
I don't know where to start with planning a wedding.
I've bought a few magazines, but that made me even more lost.
I really need some advice. What's the first steps I need to do, and how do I even start planning?
Please help!

I also already found out from the internet that to marry in Jamaica I only need to apply for the license 24 before the wedding.

my fiance claims that weddings are women's business, and just told me to tell him what to wear and when to arrive.

Go to your travel agent. They will be able to advise you on the legalities of a destination wedding (the details are listed in the brochures). If your partner has the same nationality as you then it will be pretty straightforward. (If your partner isn't, forget, lol - experience x). Different documents are required depending on where you plan to get married. Minimum is a passport and birth certificate, and possibly proof of single status.
Edit - I saw your additional details. I'm getting married on Saturday. I said today to my partner let's run through our vows. He said what are they.
Nerves .lol x

First off, both of you need to decide on the date. This will help you create a reasonable time line. If you are getting married in the Caribbean, most likely they will take care of just about all the details for you. You both need to decide what island in the Caribbean that you want to get married on. Then, decide on the actual wedding location. If you are looking for really great advice, I would suggest going on http://www.theknot.com There are quite a few people that could help you out and I know some have even gotten married in the Caribbean. Also, there are worksheets and lists on the website that can be loads of help.
The most important thing is to have fun planning and don't get stressed out by guest lists etc.
Good Luck and Congrats!
You need to find some way to get him involved. When I was planning my wedding, I didnt have that issue. My fiance at the time was very much into helping me plan and alleviate any stress that may have surfaced. I'm sure he would enjoy adding items to the registry if you guys go that route.

When do you plan to marry? Have you at least thought about that part, set a date? If you're looking to do a destination wedding, I'm sure any of the various wedding planning websites on the internet (and there are plenty, just google them...I belong to theknot.com and I know the wedding channel is another and there are plenty more) which may provide some info for you. It's too bad your fiance isn't helping - mine has been helping every step of the way so far without even being asked.

Decide on the date---not during June thru November tho. That is hurricane season if you want it in the Caribbean.
Decide then how your wedding finances will be, how casual or fancy of a dress, your/his attendants, family member attending.
Then now is the time to contact a travel agent.. so they can start with the hotel accomadations for those attending.
the travel agent also might be able to give you a headsup as to where to go about wedding plans, where, who will perform etc....
Once, you get started you will be on the rolll and eager to make the plans.
If you are not able to do this planning... is there another reason you are not ready to plan? Do you really want to marry this person? Are you ready to commited 100% to the marriage? Just some suggestions.

i have been engaged for almost 4 years n we still havent made any proper plans. we were going to get married mid-october this year, but i really think id like to get married in lapland! for weddings abroad, you could go to your nearest travel agents n see if they do any special packages. as you need to get a license to get married, you will also have to see a registrar at your local registry office. they might also have some more information they can give you. i think the first step in organising a wedding, is getting a date decided between you. then make a provisional booking, and a guest list so you can get invites sent. when you know how many guests you will have, you can start organising everything else (catering, seating plans, etc). you could always get a wedding planners advice if you still dont know what to do.

Well he's alot like my hubby. All he wanted a choice in was time and place. Well i would check out www.sandals.com They have great packages for wedding in the caribbean.
First is this a trip just the two of you? are you planning to have family come along? You might want to contact a travel agent to see if you can get a group discount.
I hope this helps.
good luck.

First step would be to if you havent already decipher a date. Once you have a date find out what kinds of hotels have wedding packages in the caribbean. Price them and see which ones have the date available and what they include. Decide who is going with you if anyone. once you find a location i am sure they will help you with all the planning.

Here are just some websites that may help you out. You can find more just by using google. Type in Caribbean wedding locations.

He's got to help you girl...dont do this all by yourself..you will go crazy.
Just extend an invite to about 10 couples and see if they can definetly make it out to the Carribbean before you make any arrangements. Then find out the best hotels down there and see how they handle weddings. Most of them accomodate weddings very well.

even if you only need 24 (days? hours? weeks?) book it before hand.
decide on a budget. what do you have to spend.
find a place to have the wedding... see what is included and work out from there what you will need to organise.
decide who you want to attend (and in what function) and get the invites out asap... because ppl will need to save to attend
also decide what role certain ppl will have in the wedding.
most improtant though DECIDE ON A DATE, then work to this shedule
just take it bit by bit, and everything you organise will throw up somehting else and that way it all gets covered.
try buying one of those books that helps you plan it out with dates and lists etc

I am also getting married in the Caribbean. The first thing you need to do is decide on which island you want to marry and when. Then call different hotels, ask them about wedding package pricing and available dates.
Compare and contrast the prices and hotels and find out what fits your budget.
Also, it doesn't hurt to go down there yourself to see the different hotels/resorts.
Good luck!
