well in oldie times people believed bad spirits would come to haunt the bride and wedding to make it all evil and corrupt and end in divroce. so bridesmaids would be 'dressed up' to confuse the spirits as to which woman was the bride.

pretty stupid huh?

Sounds superstitious to me. I'd hate to be one of the bridesmaid that got the attention of the bad spirit.

Doesn't sound stupid to me at all.
Although there are no bridesmaids in the Orthodox religion, so I won't be having any at my wedding, but still, I know heaps of superstitions in my culture lol! And I've also heard that the veil protects the bride from the 'evil eye', people that may be jealous or not wishing her well lol.

in many non-christian cultures, the bride's single friends help her prepare for the ceremony. So, do you think decoy brides would be a better name? Lol!

pretty stupid for sure' What is tradition?
If everyone would try and really understand the true meaning of a traditional marriage ,
We would never have to ask such a question.
remember a few years ago, in the good old days,
if you were not a (Pure Virgin) you would never wear a white dress,
we are so screwed up,
wearing white wedding dresses and getting married time after time,
what a farce,
yes pretty stupid for sure'
