RC is usally used for resin coated 5R means 5 inch regular which is 5x7 inches or 127 x 178 cm Theres is not a 5x8 size it for standard sizes it is either going to be 5x7 or 6x8. with an inkjet you can do a 5x8 photo on an 8.5x11 sheet. The dpi is the measument for dots per inch which translates to the same thing as grain structure in traditional film.

Photo paper does not care about a digital image's resolution. If it is printed with an ink jet, it just takes on the ink as the printer applies it. The paper, itself has no quality that affects the quality of the print, other than that it does not allow the ink to be absorbed too quickly and spread along the paper's fibers. It is just, plain, ordinary paper with a glossy coating.

REAL photographic paper is different. It has a surface of light sensitive crystals, much like a film's negatives. When exposed to light, a chemical change occurs in the crystal (which cannot be observed until the print is developed) Like photographic film, this paper may have different sensitivity to light, being slower to expose or faster. (much like film's ISO rating) Faster films and paper are so because the grains are larger. Finer grains are slower to expose, so require more light.

This grain can usually only be observed under a magnifying glass. In a negative, the grains can be more easily seen because the image made up of these grains, is usually blown up, enlarging the grains. But, in photographic paper, its grains are not apparent.

R used to mean Resin Coated in pure photography work. Not sure if that still applies today.
