SURE DO. Conflict gets a situation SETTLED. Hope only prolonges the anticipation of the parties.
Get your butt kicked and hard, a few times and the issues of the world start to take on a clarity that any blind man can appreciate.

I think it was true it was people like you that crucified Christ
I think it is sad the opinion you had was the only one voiced
Will you be so sure when your day is near say you don't believe?

Perhaps you'll think before you say that God is dead and gone
Open your eyes, just realize that he's the one
The only one who can save you now from all this sin and hate.

There many kinds of hope. We hope tomorrow will be a better day, that the sun will shine or the rain will fall. Spiritual hope means we hope that we will reap the rewards of faith. For a believer that is good. For a non-believer it is foolishness.
Conflict is a test. We must pass these tests.

Most assuredly. We'd all be single-cell organisms--or more likely, we would've never existed at all, without conflict.
A) Necessity is the mother of invention
B) Without other vying forms of life competing for resources we cannot evolve to better suit our environment.
C) It is a beautiful thing that such terrible things happen so that the joy is so much more poignant.
