Just because the universe is highly improbable, doesn't mean that it was intended.

The chances of me winning the lottery are highly improbable, but if I were to win the lottery, it would not be because it was intended for me to win the lottery.

If it was, that would mean that the lottery was fixed, and the lottery is not fixed.

There is no creator. It's time for the 21st century to move on and leave behind the divisive superstition that is organised theistic religion.

Can you accept that my opinion is different?

Hinduism states that Brahman did not create, but He simply transforms a fragmental portion of His energy into the multitudes of Parallel Universes that exist, apparently.

There are Infinite Bubbles and in each Bubble there are 14 Universes.

The fact is, The Lord, uses a portion of His energy to make the Universes manifest, maintains them for a fixed period of time and dissolution occurs, upon which the energy is transformed into a new set of Universes.

The Law of Conservation of Energy states that 'Energy is Not Created or Destroyed, but can be transformed.'

Hinduism states this law and goes one step further, saying that Energy is Brahman, and that Brahman is eternal. He is both Personal and Impersonal.

The Lord is not some Deity sitting up in the Sky, as mordern religions claim. He is all-pervading, His power is manifest everywhere, borne from His material energy. The Scriptures say that He is in every atom.

Saying God 'Created' would mean He needed Building Blocks to create. Hinduism says that His energy has always been eternal and the process of transformation into multiple Universes has occured eternally as a cycle of Generation, Organisation and Dissolution (Note that the three first letters become 'GOD' when lumped together). It is in perfect accord with Science.

The Philosophy of man-made religions is lacking. But the Philosophy of atheists is also lacking. Hinduism is the world's oldest religion and along with its sister Dharmic Religions, Buddhism and Jainism, it is also the most scientific.

Yes, people never seem to be able to accept coincidence as a possibility except when it comes to the lottery. If Jesus's face appears in a fried tortilla, it's not coincidence, it's not random, it's DIVINE. If the earth happens to be at a nice cozy distance from the sun, it's not coincidence, it's not the anthropic principle, it's DIVINE.

But if somebody wins the lottery, people don't fall down worshiping him/her because they think GOD gave the lottery money to the winner because he DESERVED it. It's just a million-to-one chance...coincidence. Nothing funny about it at all...

Funny...

Edit: regarding Joey ploof's answer...and which religion is he supposed to join? And even if he randomly picks one (since there's no logical basis for choosing one over the other), how will that end divisiveness?

Do you actually know the statistics for winning the lottery? You are comparing that with the chances of the universe being intentional. Yeah...not the same.

Lottery is one in 46 million, by the way.

Saying that you know that God doesn't exist is rather ignorant, whether you like it or not. Where is YOUR demonstrable proof that God doesn't exist? See what I mean?

Your illustration is good but we can all play that game .Imagine this.... You are walking through a barren desert and you come upon a house. The house has Water, Heating, Electricity, Food of every kind, light etc etc. Would you believe that that house had just appeared there by chance? That all the bricks, pipes, cement, wires etc had just been dumped in one place and then by complete CHANCE they formed into the amazing house? Well thats what the THEORY of Evolution would tell you. I on the other hand would believe that the house must of had a designer and builder. As the Bible says ' Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but he that constructed all things is God' Hebrews 3:4. Sometimes we need to use common sense when working out problems.

People have believed in God for millennia, before they knew anything of the improbability of the universe creating itself (which in any case is self-refuting). And as you well know, the existence or non-existence of God cannot be proven (or else we wouldn't be having this conversation.)

In the end belief in God comes down to faith. But it is not blind faith. The evidence for God's existence is overwhelming:- the fine-tuning of the universe, the complexity of the human body, DNA, consciousness, your inbuilt sense of right and wrong (conscience), the Bible, near-death experiences, miracles. Most of all the missing body of Jesus and subsequent explosion of the Christian Church. How you choose to interpret the evidence really depends on your presuppositions or world view.

A challenge: say to God, "If you are real, show me." Keep an open mind and see what happens...

The universe is truely amazing. Every element seems to work in the direction, that allows for a highly advanced life form such as us, to exist and even come up with questions like yours. That there might be a spiritual force, that gives this universe a organic type oneness, is not to difficult to believe, especially if you are the intuitive artistic type personality, I think you need to sharpen your spiritual senses dulled by our materialistic over indulging society. Meditate/pray,. do mind-body exercises, eat healthy, and controll your over indulging, and this should increase your intuition, so you will sense, that there is more to life than just material. That there exist a whole different realm out there, that is spiritual, and can be connected with very well when you sleep.

Every single solitary thing on the earth has a leader; a maker, a builder, an eater, a partaker, a doer, etc. Every thing that is must have an origin for it to work and exist.
God is not only there, but He knows every single solitary detail of the entire universe from the tiniest to the most vast.
God's knowledge is without limits. Nothing in all the earth is hidden from His knowing.
A painting has a painter;
a building has a builder;
and creation has a creator.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life."

High improbability does not define improbable.Unfortunately explaining this to a theist requires words in one syllable - just like "god did it".
Logic is not something that sits well with faith,I should know I used to have it.Faith is the very abandonment of logic and reason, and trusting in something you can never know 100%. Any theist that says they are 100% certain that a god exists is very simply either lying to you or themselves or both.

I could care less if I am *contingent* or not. If this world is *contingent* or not. I could care less if there is life after death. All I know is that I believe in God and feel him in my life. I can accept that this world happened by chance, but that does not change the fact that I feel God in my life.

Wish I could explain it in terms of logic, but faith cannot be explained that way. I have been saved from death more than once, and have had my prayers answered when I needed it most. Co-incidence? Maybe. But I don't think so.

Aside from that, if everyone followed the 10 Commandments, this world would not be the hellhole that it is today. Who can argue with that? God is not what's wrong with the world today.

Your broad assumption is similar to what Hitler wanted to do with everyone who wasn't blonde haired and blue eyed. He wanted to get rid of them for the "good of mankind" and society. Yep, he sure had the right idea, right? Just wipe out the bad gene pool of subhumans with brown eyes and brown hair....

It is interesting when we try to answer cosmic questions with regard to probability. Since there is no time limit, there is no likihood or non-likihood of our existence.

We do exist with individual volition, and that inspires awe.

Some individuals sense that they are a persisting part of this universe. If it happened once, why can't it happen again?

Why do atheists think that they can assess ultimate reality with their five senses?
