Weigh up the pros and cons. Would the medication really mess with your head more than the panic attacks or lack of sleep? Could you take the medication for a while and see how you feel? You could always come off them if you don't like them. Are you getting therapy to address any underlying issues you might have? If you're not, you should be.

Good luck xxx

I felt the same way about my meds. I stopped taking them, which I regret. I went from having aniexty attacks to agoraphobia. I live in a gated community and I don't go beyond the gate without being terrified. My life is more out of control than before. Meds should serve as temporary help along with therapy. You want to catch this early. Prolonging it will only make matters worse. I went from traveling all the time to being disable. I do all my shopping over the Internet or my fiance does it for me. You don't want to live your life like this. So, just think of it this way, meds don't have to be long term and do seek therapy as well.

Seriously and listen to me when I tell you this. No amount of medication will help you completely stop having them. I started having them 6-15 times a day I would just sit in a ball and cry waiting for the next one. It ruined my life completely. There is a book called the Anxiety and Phobia workbook its absolutely amazing and cheap I swear it saved my life. It teachings something called Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Its shows you how to calm down, breath proper and not to be afraid of the panic when it happens. The author is brilliant and doesnt write to you like your a complete tool.It has lists of things to work on and how to cope when you cant anymore. It explaines the medications given to people with panic and anxiety disorders and the good and bad of all of them. Please look into it I swear its a life saver!

I have read some litterature about panic attacks. But they allways seem to have a more scientific approach and that is nothing I need in my struggle to survive those horrible panic attacks. This is a "hand on" and very practical book. I felt it was written to me. I am sure that you are going to feel the same.

Joe Barry writes exactly how I think. The examples are perfectly described. And the method is genius. I recommend this book and thanks Joe Barry for writing it. It changes your life

Hmmm I sometimes wonder that myself, though Im not in your exact situation. How do you know when you are in love? I know that I would be miserable without my girlfriend but It cant stop me from wondering if there is somebody out there who is better suited for me, more compatible. We have very different views on what is acceptable at parties, she thinks is cool to let people draw on her boobs! I dont know if thats the kind of person I want to be with. Many thoughts to sit and ponder.... Would I be happier with somebody else? Im 20 years old maybe I just need some more time to figure out what I really want.

Okay, this is how the cycle starts. First you develop a condition because of an external factor. Then you develop an internal factor because of the condition. This is not good.

Take the medican. It should help. However, you need to identify why you started having them in the first place and combat that issue.

However, in the mean time you need to do something when they occure to keep you from worring about them. Watch T.V., read, do something.

What meds have they tried on you? Im interested.

If you dont want to take meds i would try to control the attacks, I have had a few and yeah I know how they are. What I do is try deep breathing when I have them. It works wonders.

As someone who has suffered from panic attacks, I know how you feel.

Panic attacks can be brought on by many things. Just give the meds a try and see if it helps.

God Bless.

have you tried talk therapy?

i have to say that if "a few" psychiatrists believe that meds can help, you should give em a try. there must a reason they are suggesting to try them.

i personally never knew you could have anxiety attacks in your sleep though. to be honest, it sounds more like a night terror.
