Did you stick with short hair or grow it back/plan to grow it back?
A friend of mine is seriously considering doing just this with her mid-back hair...

My hair was that long that i could sit on the ends of it but i had it cut into a chin length bob and then went even shorter so it was about an inch at the longest on top, loved it when it was short but you are limited in what you can do with it so i tended to dye it all different colours, am now growing my hair again and am just passed my shoulders.

I've always had long hair because I don't think short hair would suit me. When I was a child I had short hair but begged my mom to let me grow it and since the age of 10 it's been long. I get it trimmed every 2-3 months and it's not overally long, just pass my shoulders really and I personally I like long hair =)

I regretted it soon after, but if you cant lean down to see what you're writing and that you get a face full of hair asleep its hard to say you want to keep your hair the way it is. I look so different from how I used to look, and I am planning to get some growth back into mine because hair gets boring easily. Words of advice, be sure you want to make this move or you'll have to wait 1-2 years to get it back that long again!!

My hair was half way down my back and i cut it very short. I loved it.. it's wonderful how light my head is now.. long hair is heavy even if you don't realise it is. Once you get used to not lugging the weight around you'll be fine. Some advice is not cut it ultra short - maybe get sholder length then next time get a bob then a very short style or something. this way it's not one big shock of having short hair all of a sudden. BTW you can do alot more styles than with short hair than long hair :) it's supprising.

Nah you don't want to cut your hair short. at least with long hair, if your having a bad hair day you can tie it in a bun and not let it be too bad - but wake up with a bad hair day with short hair, theres little you can do about it. Plus in my honest opinion a too short haircut makes most people look like a man - so she will need to be extremely pettite and pixi featured to be able to even consider carrying it off.

Its drastic - so i would have it cutt off in two sessions, at least if after the first session i couldn't stand shorter hair it wouldnt be as seriously bad as going for a full there boy cutt.

I cut my long hair two months ago and I LOVE my short hair. It looks healthy, shiny, wavy and really beautiful. I should have done it a long time ago. The key is to get a very good cut that while short, looks feminine and sexy.

Sometimes it is just time for a change and it is nice to have a completely different look. I do have couple of long wigs, though, just in case I wake up one day and am in the mood for long hair.

Yes and I nearly cried everyday when I got up and looked in the mirror! This may seem rather extreme but it is a hugh change and you need to know that it's what you really do want. Hair looked horrendous at various stages of the growing out process!
Good luck!

I've had long hair twice after college; it went half way down my back.

The main reason I cut my hair is that it is thick & takes a really long time to dry.

I've had it cut short twice & and have kept it short for the last 10 years.

Yeah, i did.
Mid-back hair length to pixie short hair. I've sticked to having short hair, because I am so impatient in growing it out.
But I may end up investing in some hair extensions at the end of the year.
=)
