just curious why so many good people with bright futures who've done nothing harmful in their lives die for NO godd*amn reason? Suffer for no reason? Starve for no reason? Get molested daily for no reason?

Maybe God just isn't as nice and kind and benevolent as most religious folks would like to believe.

Or maybe he has a reason for everything and, although we might think it cruel of him, small evils all actually contribute to a greater good.

Or maybe he just doesn't care.

Or maybe he just doesn't exist at all.

Who knows, really?

Edit: I really love how some Christians like to say, It's not God's fault--it's the devil's fault, or it's man's fault, or whatever. Your bible tells you very plainly that God created evil. It's right there in Isaiah, 45:7.

If you read the bible you would know that God has allowed Satan free reign over the earth. As a matter of fact the bible claims Satan is the God of the world. The God in heaven does not interfere and allows all of these things to happen. You have to remember people are doing these things to other people, if we all truly believed God existed things like this wouldn't happen. The problem is people are to power hungry and greedy to live by the truth. So I suppose if we all stop believing we don't have to worry about the consequences of our actions now do we, especially if we don't fear death? Oh, and for the record, things don't happen for a reason, they just happen because someone was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Tell the mother of a 3 year old there was a reason for a 30 year old man to rape her child! The reason is people don't fear God and that is the only reason! ;-)

Are you stupid? Maybe this women was a skanky fornicator, a cheater, a drug abuser, an unwed mother, a liar, and evil. Where does it say in the article that she DIDN'T deserve to die? Maybe she doubted God as much as you. Going to church doesn't make you anymore a Christian than going to McDonalds makes you a hamburger.

Also, personally, I would never go to a strangers HOUSE alone for a job. You have to take some responsibility for yourself.

Anyway, many Christians on here will say that perhaps she WAS a god fearing deserving person who is now enjoying heaven instead of this hell here on earth...reading this article confirms my last statement.

Where is your brain when you ask mindless questions like this? Do you really think there is to be no suffering in this world? The Bible says there will be.

EDIT: My answer is harsh yes, but I am sick of these stupid questions by non-believers that keep popping up. Do these people have thick skulls? People have to stop equating God with a "perfect world". Also, if everyone actually followed the Bible ("thou shall not kill") in the first place, these things wouldn't happen. Make sense to you?

This question has been asked thousands of times over the centuries. You are not alone in your quest. Even Bibical guys like Moses asked the same question.

Your question evokes a more serious question - does God even exist and if so, why is the world as it is today.

I think that you have to look at the world as a being. Perhaps a creation but perhaps not too. Things on earth are as nature allows. As we go through our lives, we do out best. But the world is just a tiny planet spinning is space.

I agree with you in this aspect. I know that EVERYTHING in nature has to be balanced. One of the most basic rules of nature is that if you push on one front, nature will answer back with an equal force. This is one of the most important rules of physics. From Nuton - "a force in one direction causes and equal and opposite reaction." It can't get any simpler than that.

I take that rule of nature and make it my sorta "God." It's just nature. You can't believe in some sorta "Big" God and not think of these rules. "God" will not take care of you. We have to take care of God. If we do, then we will be blessed. If we don't then all hell will break loose and things will get ugly. I think you know what I mean.

Go and take care of nature and it will take care of you. That's how God meant it to be.

There is a reason and it's called sin; and if everyone was obeying God we would have no sin.
The bible tells us all to provide the needs of the poor; therefore no one would be starving; sin is to blame for the starving; man does not care about his fellow man.
Man pollutes the air, the food, etc. and people get cancer; sin again to blame. Money becomes more important then people's health.
Man molests children; again sin is to blame; obedience to God would eliminate that too.
God is on His throne and He has given us a bible teaching us how He has commanded us to live.
We can look our how far away the world is in disobedience to God's commands and clearly see why He sends people to hell to punish them. When we look at sin for what it really is, we should not be surprised about the punishment.
Yet, John 3:16 says "for God so loved the world, that He gave His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life."
Jesus paid for our sins on the cross and if we accept Him as our Lord and Savior, and allow Him to come and live in our hearts, we will stop sinning.
Praise the God of the universe who is rich in mercy for all who want to turn away from sin.

First of all how do you classify people being religious here? All that I want to say here is "No one is good but one, that is,God."(Mark:10, verse18). Our concept of being good is not good enough to prevent us from any punishment because human's law is not flawless, but we get punished according to God's law. Did you ever get to know the things that those people did which were hidden, and if you look at what these people's parents or grandparents did in the past, then consider this scripture in the Bible: "For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me."(Exodus:20, verse 5) There is a saying goes" Like father like son." if the father sins, the curse can be carried on to his son. God bless you.

Things happen for a reason, good and bad. Bad things happen to good people all the time and good things happen to bad people as well. IT'S NOT FAIR!!!

If you are angry at God, you have every right to be angry at God. But it is not God's fault that these things happen.

God gave everyone and everything "Free will". What I mean by everyone is angels, animals, people, and organisms, ect...

There is pure evil out there, lurking and preying on those who do not deserve it. The scary part is some people believe that the Devil doesn't exist, and when this happens, it gives the adversary (the Devil) more power to control them.

God is right where He's said He'd always be. Watching, waiting, and trying to draw all of us to Him. Free will and man's fallen nature are what bring about those kinds of things. Anyone of us is capable of doing these horible things and worse. God does not cause to make those decisions or prevent us. It's interesting that you're quick to blame God and leave the perpatrater completely out of the discussion. Also no discussion of Satan and what his part may have been in the situation......

People from western cultures struggle with this question because they are taught by their religion and Budweiser commercials that you only go around once...

People in the Far east don't have to struggle with this question because most of them know that we have been here before. The West blames God, the East accepts the responsibility for the situation they find themselves in and know they have time to sort things out and do it right.

I have thought about both sides and I think the East is right. I don't blame God... I take the responsibility for the things that happen to me.

do you believe in free will or do you believe that none of us make any decisions or choices, that we are robots controlled by God, if you do believe in free will then things like this are going to happen, humans choose to do evil things. if we do not have free will then we are the same as objects that humans create like televisions and computers and are not truly human, therefore you can either have free will and have humans that choose to do evil things or you can not have free will and this life basically means nothing it would be no different than us being rocks or any other object that can not make decisions, that is why bad things happen it is not because there is not a god it is because he created us with the ability to think and love, but also the ability to hate and do evil things, we make our own choices if he intervened when people made bad choices it would take away our free will and basically just make us nothing but physical objects
