its freshest to drink tea within 6 hours of brewwing. after that it starts to get a soured taste if its not be refrigerated

I worked at a Cracker Barrel restaurant, made an ungodly amount of brewed ice tea for 6 years. their guidelines were to throw out old tea after 4 hours but theirs was not kept in a refirdgerator either that would prolong the life of the tea.

It depends on the type of tea and whether you store it in a fridge.

Green tea keeps fresh shorter. You will notice that it turns dark after a while - due to oxidation.

If it tastes worse or bad, chances are it is stale.

Does Brewed Tea Go Bad

tea left unrefridgerated does taste spoiled within hours, particularly if left in a closed container. If made at home and left in the brewing pot without a lid it doesn't spoil as quickly as leaving the lid on. Restaurants serving unsweetened tea unrefrigerated have issues of it spoiling because it does not sell as quickly as sweet tea. McDonald's & Burger King both make large batches that create the circumstance that it sits for extended periods of time. As the above comment regarding Cracker Barrel: they discard and make a new batch evey 4 (FOUR) HOURS to accommodate it being unrefrigerated. That seems accurate;. FYI, McDs & BK: please make note of the four hours; I am tired of getting spoled tea 75% of the time!

Well, it won't exactly go bad-not like meat or veg.-but after a week or so it becomes sour tasting and not pleasant.

If refrigerated in sealed container, it last about forty-eight hours but it does not last that long around here.
