I am a Christian and I got a small tattoo on my ankle for my birthday. It is pink & blue flowers surrounded by 4 honey bees. Each bee represents my 4 grandchildren.

I don't see any harm in it but I do question those whose bodies are literally covered with tattoos. I have seem some awesome tattoos where the art work is incredible but for me one on my ankle is enough.

It's really, no big deal ... unless it is offensive to others. Remember; if it is not of faith ... it is of sin ! The sin is not in one acquiring a tattoo but in IF it is deemed offensive by others (non-believers or believers alike). The choice simply, is yours to make.

P.S. Many will point to the Old Testament, (Book of Leviticus) to point out, that it is wrong to get a tattoo. This is not correct because Christians are under the NEW Testament since the Old is no longer binding for Christians. The Old Covenant WAS (no longer is), exclusive to the Jews - not Christians ! Enjoy your tattoo !!!

I am a Christian and this is what I have to say:

I believe that you can get a tattoo if you want. The only Scripture specifically mentioning "tattoos" is found in the Old Testament: "Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD." Leviticus 19:28. Tattoos were used extensively by the other nations for pagan worship, decoration, and to mark a slave.

However, when Jesus came, all of the law of the Old Testament became dead. When Jesus died on the cross, He put an end to the Old Testament law (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:23-25; Ephesians 2:15). In place of the Old Testament law, we are under the law of Christ (Galatians 6:2) which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:37-40). If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do, “This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome” (1 John 5:3). Technically, the Ten Commandments are not even applicable to Christians. However, 9 of the Ten Commandments are repeated in the New Testament (all except the command to observe the Sabbath day). Obviously, if we are loving God we won't be worshipping other gods or worshipping idols. If we are loving our neighbors, we won't be murdering them, lying to them, committing adultery against them, or coveting what belongs to them. So, we are not under any of the requirements of the Old Testament law. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we do those two things faithfully, everything else will fall into place.

So I say go get your tattoo if you really want to and if you've really thought about it. Because once its on, it won't come off!

I am 100% against getting a tattoo, and a Christian shouldn't get one.

Leviticus 19:28 (English Standard Version)
You shall not make any cuts on your body for the dead or tattoo yourselves: I am the LORD.

Now that you've asked everyone else what they thought, Isn't it about time to ask God Himself? If your goal in life really is ti 'Honor' the Lord, then I would think that would include the 'whole' Word of God. Personally, they just don't appeal to me, I especially don't appreciate having a rear- view' one that is just above a woman's immodest pant/skirt waistline!

Why should it be a problem? If a Christian got a tattoo that put down his faith......that would be a problem! Other wise, go ahead! Chaplain Debby

I don't see how religion has any bearing on a person's personal preference in body art. If the person wants a tattoo, he or she should get a tattoo.

Why on earth would you want one? The disfiguring of the human body is traditionally found in primitive societies. It is akin to walking on fire (a tourist activity in some places).
It was prohibited in the Old Testament.

Leviticus 19
28Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
