I know the state of Minnesota allows for court ordered Rehab, and I know all it requires are three signatures. I am wondering how I go about getting a court order, how long it usually takes to go through the system, and how I can find out more about this.

YOU CANNOT GET AN ORDER AGAINST ANYONE.

ONLY AN ATTORNEY CAN MAKE APPLICATION TO THE COURTS.

COURT ORDERED REHAB? FOR WHAT?
HAS THIS PERSON EVER BEEN SENTENCED?
IF SO THEN THE COURT MAY CONSIDER REHAB AS A PART OR CONDITION OF ORIGINAL SENTENCE AND PERSON NEEDS HELP STILL. NOT REHABILITATED.

For yourself? Or are you trying to commit someone else?

EDIT: OK. Let's take a different approach. You and the loved ones of this person should try for an intervention instead. There is no reason or legal basis for the law to get involved.

NEVER NEVER NEVER EVER EVER put anyone you care about into the court system!

Never ever ever put any one you care about into involuntary civil commitment to a mental institution, which is what you are talking about.

You will regret it for the rest of your (possibly short) life.

(Being a drug abuser or alcohol abuser is only technically against the law and is not usually prosecuted as a crime, so it is clear you are not talking about how do you get someone charged with this crime.--and you don't need any "three signatures".)

Putting someone into jail for their own good or putting someone into a mental institution against their will is nearly IMPOSSIBLE TO REVERSE.

IF YOU DO THIS: This person will likely send the REST of his or her LIFE in a mental institution.

I have seen it.

I have seen a woman who is a LAWYER--a good lawyer--but she s not a criminal lawyer--put her own son in jail for smoking pot and yelling at her. He was basically a good kid. He was 15 when he went in; he is 23 now and he is still there. He never finished high school, he never went to college, hi life is destroyed. He has been repeatedly raped and abused and has tried over and over to kill himself--the have lost count. Someday he will succeed. Boys who are raped never get over it. Boys who are raped because their mothers put them in jail thinking that you only get one night for yelling at your mom and smoking pot, spend the rest f their lives in hell.

I don't know who's life you're trying to destroy but you'd better think again.

BAD THINGS happen to people who are institutionalized and have no freedom--others attempt to prey on them, and when they defend themselves, they are charged with a new crime. THis boy was charged with new crimes every time someone inside tried to assault him:

SEXUAL ASSAULT IN MENTAL INSTITUTIONS IS AN HOURLY OCCURRENCE.

No it is not reported. Who is on control of the reporting? Those who are also in control of providing a safe environment and will be sued or lose their business if they don't.

IF YOU DO THIS, the person will hate you forever.

AND of course, you will hate yourself.

BE prepared to lose your son or daughter or friend or mom or dad or whoever it is, you will never see them again after about 6 mnths or a year. IF THEY survive.

RENT One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

Read Kafka's the Trial.

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR FRIGGIN MIND??????

It is better to let this person die a free man.

You have jeopardized your eternal salvation by even thinking about committing this horrendous crime against humanity.

IT'S NOT VACATION OR RICH PEOPLE REHAB--Once someone is INSIDE it take a NEW JUDICIAL DETERMINATION to get them out.

You can't just say, OK 30 days are up, we're taking him or her home.

TO get them LOCKED UP-which is what you are trying to do--you NEED A COURT ORDER and that is a JUDGE"S DETERMINATION that the person is a danger to himself or others.

IT TAKES a NEW court order to UNDO the first one.

NO JUDGE IN HIS RIGHT MIND AFTER CHO AND VIRGINIA TECH AND COLUMBINE is going to go on record and say, I Personally, Judge Robert E. Smith Jr. of 1231 Mocking Bird Lane, personally guarantee that this boy or girl or old guy is SANE and NO DANGER to ANYONE.

NO judge will do that now. They're afraid they'll get sued.

So, your loved one stays behind bars. AND GETS WORSE and WORSE and possibly commits crimes because of the unfairness and bizarrness.

It will never end.

If it is someone you care about, just let them die. Don't kill their soul. You belong in
