When I was younger (and faithful because i didn't know any better), my parents sent me to a weekly CCD class at my local Catholic church. During one class, we were discussing the second coming of Christ, and my teacher said when Christ returned, everyone would die and the good would be saved.

I asked her what would happen if Christ didn't return until the year 8,000, and by then we had traveled the stars, met and integrated with alien species, and colonized other planets. What would happen if three beings (one human, two from another solar system) were all hanging out together at some bar at the edge of some galaxy ... when all of the sudden back on Earth, Christ returned. Would the Human just collapse and die right in front of the others? Would they all die? How unfair to the aliens who have never heard of Jesus!

She said the question was invalid because there is no life outside of Earth.

How arrogant was she to claim this knowledge? How foolish did she think I was?

As you can plainly see he will come to rescue his people the Israelites he shall land first at the Mount of Olives and then rescue his people of Petra/Bozrah which is southern Jordan where the Edomites used to dwell:

Acts 1
Jesus Taken Up Into Heaven
6So when they met together, they asked him, "Lord, are you at this time going to restore the kingdom to Israel?"
7He said to them: "It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by his own authority. 8But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."
9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
Matthias Chosen to Replace Judas
12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk[b] from the city. 13When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying.

Notice these verses:
9After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight.
10They were looking intently up into the sky as he was going, when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. 11"Men of Galilee," they said, "why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven."
12Then they returned to Jerusalem from the hill called the Mount of Olives, a Sabbath day's walk[b] from the city.

Zechariah 14
3 Then the LORD will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights in the day of battle. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. 5 You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake [a] in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.
12 This is the plague with which the LORD will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. 13 On that day men will be stricken by the LORD with great panic. Each man will seize the hand of another, and they will attack each other. 14 Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected—great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. 15 A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.
Notice this verse:

. 4 On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south.

Isaiah 63
God's Day of Vengeance and Redemption
1 Who is this coming from Edom,
from Bozrah, with his garments stained crimson?
Who is this, robed in splendor,
striding forward in the greatness of his strength?
"It is I, speaking in righteousness,
mighty to save."
2 Why are your garments red,
like those of one treading the winepress?
3 "I have trodden the winepress alone;
from the nations no one was with me.
I trampled them in my anger
and trod them down in my wrath;
their blood spattered my garments,
and I stained all my clothing.
4 For the day of vengeance was in my heart,
and the year of my redemption has come.
5 I looked, but there was no one to help,
I was appalled that no one gave support;
so my own arm worked salvation for me,
and my own wrath sustained me.
6 I trampled the nations in my anger;
in my wrath I made them drunk
and poured their blood on the ground."

If all you know about the Christian teachings concerning the Second Coming are from Catholic school, there may be some gaps in your knowledge. I'm not sure what the official church doctrine is concerning this, but most Catholics I have ever met don't seem to know much and haven't been taught much concerning the Second Coming.

If you already think you have this life on other planets thing so figured out, you probably aren't going to be open to the teachings of the Bible on this subject. I will tell you that I've always been sort of a science fiction buff myself, and although it is not part of Christian teaching, I see no reason why God couldn't have created other worlds and other sentient beings than ours, and if He did, then He would have a plan for their eternity as well.

The Bible clearly states that the knowledge of God is inside all of us whether we have heard the gospel message or not and none of us will have an excuse on Judgment Day for not accepting Him. (Read Romans 1)

The prophecies concerning the Second Coming are scattered throughout the Bible. Some of them are intertwined with the prophesies of the Messiah (which is why the disciples and Jewish leaders thought Jesus had come to establish His kingdom when He came the first time, and why Jews are still looking for the Messiah today), so it takes some serious study (group and individual) to sort it out.
The main books dealing with the Second Coming are Daniel, Ezekiel, Revelation, and Jesus' words in Matthew (24 I think--sorry it's late & I'm tired so I'm not going to look it up) Also some teachings in 1 & 2 Thessalonians.

Christians have different interpretations of the sequence of some of the end-time events, so you are likely to get a variety of answers. Most everybody agrees that there will be a seven year Tribulation period as described in Revelation (and Daniel), but Christians differ on whether or not we will be around to suffer through it. Some Christians believe in a Pre-Trib Rapture to take them out before the trouble starts. Others believe in Mid-Trib, we will be here for some of it, but gone before the worst of it. Others believe we will be around for all of it, but somehow God will protect us (or we will die as martyrs for the cause). During the Tribulation, the Anti-Christ will rise to power and unite the world under a false religion and one world government. There will be terrible natural disasters and phenomena no one can explain (God's judgments) but still non-believers will reject God. The remnant of the Jews will be saved, and there will be Armageddon---a battle between the Jews and other world powers. There's a lot more to it than that--I'm just giving you brief highlights.

After all that, Christ will return (this is sometimes referred to as the Glorious Appearing) and conquer the Beast (Anti-Christ) and bind him for 1000 years (The Millenial Reign).
There will actually be two Judgments. The Bema Seat Judgment will be for Christians to give an account for their works done as Christians. They will earn crowns as rewards for good works sincerely done in Jesus name, while their idle works will be burned up. They will lay their crowns at Jesus feet in worship. Non-believers will be judged at the Great White Throne Judgment at the end of the millenial reign, and all those whose name is not found in the Book of Life will be cast into the Lake of Fire. The Devil/the Beast will all be cast there, too once and for all.

Don't take my word for it--read it for yourself and believe it or not. There are a few prophesies left that must be fulfilled before the actual Tribulation can begin, but nothing remains unfulfilled that must occur before the Rapture. In other words, Jesus could return at any time to claim His children. I pray that when He returns, He finds you faithful and you are not left behind.

That's a deep question lol

I would think the Jesus return to earth would mostly affect those born and still living on Earth.

....Unless the return of Jesus is also the return to this plane of existence that in turn would affect everyone everywhere....even someone else in a galaxy far far away

When Jesus comes the second time, we're gonna have to bring out the mop. He's gonna make quite a mess all over the floor.

She was pretty dumb to make that assumption. Of course, no one can say for sure either way, but the logical person will acknowledge that probability indicates that there must be other life out there. ( I remind you that the study of probability is a legitimate branch of mathematics.)

Absolutely arrogant. We can't possibly be the only ones in the entire universe. THERE IS SOMETHING ELSE OUT THERE.

I too, went to Sunday School every week until I got older and learned better. The closer to church...the closer to hypocrites.

A pretty lame attempt to make God look unfair. Pretty weenie scenario. Atheistic proselytizing.
