Make sure its an *ISOLATE* variety. NO mixes or straight whey. The isolate type is highly 'bioavailable' - your body uses it easily.

dont make it long term, even the most natural protein shakes have elements to them that are not good for the body. I checked. GNC makes an unflavored protein powder, that checks out for the most part, but has an abundance of gums. These gums have been known to be harmful in large quantities. But, then again they are the same gums that are in syrups, sugars, etc. You may not find any significant studies claiming protein supplements are bad, but after awhile your kidneys will not be able to handle breaking down so much protein. Protein shakes are supplements, so literary, they are meant to supplement your body, when it is lacking in a nutrient. Don't make it a habit. Lift hard and cycle protein (chicken, fish, tuna, veggies) at the right time, so muscle get the energy they need when they need it.

At your age, a good diet of lots of fresh fruits and vegetables along with a serving of meat (light on the red varieties) and cereals and grains would be the best for you. However, if you have been sick or had surgery, a protein powder drink is very beneficial during the healing process.

why not man? sure thing. protein are good. proteins help repair n build ur muscles. But try not to take too much if your not working much to use them all. Cuz protein may turn into glycogen if u dun use them up.

why would u want to use protein powder, if u want to gain muscle, i'd suggest its better if u just work it out, u can go to a fitness ctr where there are personal trainers to guide u, perhaps u might want to view this site for list of fitness ctr....
