If the sum of the numbers on the players' jerseys is greater than 666, then that team will win.

God doesn't care who wins. I suppose the the teams pray for the usual, not be seriously injured and etc. but as far as God helping one of them win, He doesn't care. Talent and skill win football games, not divine interference.

Win or loose depends on the performance of the participating teams, not by praying to God.

there would so many more important things on a god's to do list a football game would not get a thought. God only watches football games for entertainment they left a hole in texas stadium so he could watch the Cowboys. only time God would be involved is if there were a severe injury.
<< deist perspective - i dont think God' interviens in our lives and if he did a football game would be one of the last places

Yes, obviously it's nothing to do with skill.
Perhaps football teams should be composed entirely of priests, rabbis and imams.
You could have the pope in goal and a few cardinals in defence. No contest.

Since Jesus told us not to pray for such things, He would not answer either team's prayers. We are to ask for what we need, and be thankful for what we receive. We are to ask for what is God's will. I do not think the outcome of a football game fits either description.
Sorry!

God helps those who help themselves. The team which plays with team spirit, fairly will win. Your own action determines victory. Prayers show the correct direction. Earnest Prayers give you the wisdom to resolve problems.

some of the other answers were funny, while God may intervene in certain situations, God sets certain laws that are followed accept of course when certain situations occur, but these laws would include whoever practices the hardest wins, or whoever has the most talent wins, just as it says rain falls on the just and the unjust alike, same type of deal here

I'm still trying to figure out the theological implications of Boston College being undefeated, while Notre Dame is giving actual dames a bad name.

Whomever is the most pious, I would presume. Gives coaches excellent incentive to do good works in God's name, and to do his work.
