You haven't given this career much thought have you? That should have been answered before you went into the academy.

IN 1965 I WAS THE FIRST OF MANY TO GO TO A JR COLLEGE LE COURSE.
UPON GRADUATION (68) OUR WHOLE CLASS WAS RECRUITED INTO THE FIELD WE CHOSE LE.
MY AGE UPON GRADUATION WAS 19. I WAS RECRUITED AND WAS UNDER 21. SO THEY PUT ME TO WORK IN THE JAIL, FINGERPRINTING, MUGSHOTS, RUNNING NCIC ETC. WHEN I TURNED 21 I WAS LEGAL IN THE STATE TO CARRY A WEAPON AS AN OFFICER.
THE AA DEGREE NEVER HURT ME. I WAS CHOSEN TO GO BACK TO SCHOOL (76)BECAUSE I HAD AN AA DEGREE.
I OBTAINED A BA (79) AND THEN A MASTERS DEGREE.(82 AND 94)
I WENT INTO THE MILITARY RESERVES AND WAS PROMOTED IN THE MP BRANCH BASED UPON MY EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND.
EDUCATION WILL NEVER HURT YOU.
MOST DEPARTMENT NOW ARE LOOKING FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS. AA DEGREE $25 P/M, BA=$50 P/M, MA=$100 P/M.

If I were you I would call a recruiter from you local police department and ask them what you should do. I feel it helps have some kind of education towards police work.
