I believe in a higher power which I call God for lack of a better term. I pray to my God for his/her will to be done. I recently found this higher power after considering myself Agnostic for several years. I don't buy into to Christianity but can't find anything else to relate to. Any suggestions I could look into?

Friend,

With unbiased mind read the Sanatana Dharma Scriptures of Hinduism(it is not exactly a religion , it tells the way one should live)
I hope you get some good understanding of the purpose of life and will be able to faithfully follow your own religion with devotion, whatever religion you follow.

You'll never know until you look into ALL of the religions. There's no harm in open-minded exploration, pondering and prayer. It will take you where GOD wants you (rather than where people think God wants you).

Study all the religions out in your mind, and consult your heart as well. When you've found the truth (or some more of it) it will bring you a feeling of peace and wipe away your confusion... Is that how you felt when you came to believe that God is real, and that his/her will is what you want to do?

Keep a journal and record the spiritual feelings and thoughts that you get (especially those you get upon waking, or after/while meditating)... God communicates with us through thoughts and feelings (usually peaceful, non-obsessive ones).

What is it that you can't accept about Christianity? What are the beliefs that you connect with? If you would like to discuss it I am very open to discussion and contemplation of new ideas (though pretty busy at present... I'd probably still take the time, because religion, in general, is a topic I'm fascinated by).

Best wishes.

You are a Deist! like me, Most of the american forefathers, thomas jefferson, ben franklin etc. the Declaration of Independance contains many deist phrases

Deism is not really a religon but a philosphy. deists consider do not accept mass religons . we belive your relationship with God should always be a personal thing. you know in your hearts what is right and what is wrong you dont need a preacher to tell you.

We belive in God as a Creator. but that he put everything in us we need to survive and prosper but he left it all up to us to figure out how and when to do it. they belive there is a logical explanation for everything and tend to dismiss the stories and miracles of the religons.

I think of it as God is a scientist and the universe is his expirament he set in motion. he observes and studies how we interact with each other and nature but does not intervine or show favorites everyone is truly equal and control our own fate

Sounds like a form of either Unitarianism or Deism. Probably the former.

I think you should look into The Flying Spaghetti Monster.

May you be touched by His Noodly Appendage.

rAmen.

You are wasting your time. Better off being Atheist.

There are really only two spiritual choices: Repent of your sins and accept Jesus as Lord, or don't.

All other 'spiritual' activity is in vain.

You sound like the 12 step program at Alcoholics Anonymous, in that you are aware of a higher power and want to tap into it.
You need to get into the Word of God.
