He must be attacted to you, and if you are a minor he is playing it safe, if he is of course over 18. Its better to wait then get into a relationship with an older man, yes, sometimes the benefits are good, but it could not only ruin your life (i.e. parents finding out, cops get involved) but his to.

He likes you now and he wants you to be his girlfriend. But the being older bit is nonsense and is probably because he doesn't think you'll be his girlfriend. It is so when you don't become his girlfriend his reason is that he is too young, not that you won't have him. So he doesn't have to face up to rejection.

well if theres a huge age gap he probbably doesnt want to be a pedifile, so what he is trying to do is let it down gently without hurting your feelings... geuss he at least tried anyway.
