I had applied for the passport in january.Due to change in my temporary address the person who came for verification went back.We didn't get any furthur acknowledgement regarding that.I need the passport with in 2 months now.If I cancel my previous application and apply for a tatkal then can I get it soon and please tell me how to do the cancellation also.

Tatkal method does not mean that it will be issued with out satisfaction of conditions
if you want tatkal, you are supposed to ready with authentic information

Generally they say that u get passport in 15 days if u apply by tatkal. I don't know about which passport office u r talking but this also differs from office to office. I got my passport from Lucknow office in 45 days and it was not tatkal and one of my friends mother got her passport in 4 months from Bareilly office when she had applied for tatkal. So before going for tatkal just check about the status of that passport office and talk to a passport officer. As much as I know, Ghaziabad passport office is good.

You will have to meet the Passport Officer alongwith all relevant documents of urgency and verification certificate issued by competent authority. If passport officer is satisfied with the documents of urgency and genuineness of verification certificate, he may order for acceptance of additional fee amount to be deposited at counter and issue of passport as early as feasible. The additional documents needed are to be reiterated :- 1) Verification Certificate issued by competent authority ( Not ntecessary if clear Police report has been received in Passport Office by the time) 2) Documents regarding Urgency The fee is Rs. 1500/- for tatkal PP issue within 10 days

As I know you cant cancel your application. You can reopen it by doing some formalities. Go directly to passport office and talk to them. Never go through any agent. You can apply for 15 days process by giving Rs. 3000, so that in worst case you can get it within 1 month. Best of luck ....

There is no temporary address. Always mention present address. Do not apply again. Do not pay 1000/- again. There is objection in your case. Meet PRO at RPO will full documents for re-enquiry. Mention the truth. Only after regular police verification, your application will be processed for grant of passport. You can re-apply only if application is closed. Govt. is not bad / wrong.

if you apply in tatkal, you have two options. first, you can get it in 15 days and the other in 30 days...
for the first case you need to pay 1500 and for the second case you need to pay 1000 apart from the passport fee.

To my knowledge, the Tatkal facility is made available by Indian Railways for immediate berth reservations during journey by rail. I am not sure if they are available for issuance of passport too. However I suggest you to see some travel agents who may get you passport for some fee.
