Mainly it is controlling the type of weapons that are available to the general population i.e. Uzis, assault rifles etc. It is also controlling where weapons can be brought in i.e. no Federal, state or government offices.

IN WHAT RESPECT? YOUR QUESTION IS MULTIFACETED.
1) GUN CONTROL: WHAT THE POLITICIANS WANT TO DO. CONTROL WHO CAN AND CANNOT HAVE A GUN (PISTOL). WHEN THEY CAN CARRY THE WEAPON CONCEALED.
2) GUN CONTROL: HOW AND OFFICER CONTROLS HIS WEAPON (PISTOL), WHEN S/HE HAS TO DRAW IT.
3) GUN CONTROL: HOW TO ACCURATELY USE YOUR WEAPON ON A PISTOL COURSE OF FIRE. (SIGHT ALIGNMENT, TRIGGER SQUEEZE, BREATH CONTROL ( INHALE / EXHALE, SQUEEZE THE TRIGGER. RELAX--REPEAT.
4) OH LAST BUT NOT LEAST IN THE ARSENAL OF WEAPONS AND GUN CONTROL:
THE MILITARY WILL TELL YOU--THIS IS MY PISTOL-THIS IS MY GUN--THIS IS FOR SHOOTING--THIS ONES FOR FUN.
