Bible says "not to correct a proud man that he will only insult you; don't throw what is holy before dogs, for they will only turn and attack you; don't go get involved in an argument that is none of your business; better a rebuke from the wise, than to join in the song of fools; a friend means well even when he hurts you, but if an enemy puts his arm around your shoulder, watch out; better you correct someone openly than to let him think you don't care for him at all."
2 Tim 2:22-26 says to pray to God and deal gently with sinners that God may open their eyes so they may see their sin.
Intercessory prayer is vital here; pray for them, that goes without saying.

If a Christian confronts the sins of others, s/he is not minding their own business.

The bible does not tell us to run around telling others they are in sin. In fact, there is a verse that says before we point out the toothpick in someone else's eye, look at the "beam" in our own eye.
However, a believer who sees another believer in sin should speak to them about it. The bible says though we should approach them meekly, humbly, and with love and care, not condemnation.

If this sin is hurting the Church or others, yes the Elders of the Church should speak to this person who has sinned.

I think you're free in Christ to do whatever you please. You're asking this question as if you aren't covered by the blood of Christ. Stop worrying about yourself and your own fate, you already know your sins are forever wiped away, and your fate is in heaven. So, the question should be would confronting sin be most expedient to doing the will of God? Yes. Worry about this other person's fate. The way you've asked this question I think you've already revealed it's something you have to work on (genuinely caring about the welfare of others). God doesn't have a gun at your back to force you to share the gospel with others. You should, out of the joy of being saved, find the urge to share the gospel with others irresistable, and the sin that holds them back from taking hold of it should sadden you. And what the guy above me said is EXACTLY RIGHT.

We are mainly required to confront sin within the church. To go around pointing the finger at unbelievers for sinning is just stupid.

That was based on a statement made to Ezekiel the prophet. I don't think it applies to a modern christian. The christian is to consider the log in his own eye before concerning himself with his neighbor's speck.
God deals with sin--not really the christian's job.

Lev 19:17 Thou shalt not hate thy brother in thine heart: thou shalt in any wise rebuke thy neighbour, and not suffer sin upon him.
But we must remember:
Gal 6:1 ¶ Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

I'll talk to anyone who's interested about their sins, but my main business is to fight against those in my own heart.
