I grew up attending a non-denominational church. When people ask me if I'm Baptist, Lutheran or Methodist... what do I tell them?

There really is no such thing as non-denominational. They choose doctrine and it usually is either faith only which originated with the Southern Baptist or charismatic which is just another word for Pentecostal. Beside how many faiths does Ephesians 4:4,5,6 say there is?

Christianity is not a religion (Philikppians 3:4-11) It is a life with a goal of eternal life in Christ Jesus. All Bible centered denominations (Registered Religious groups) such as Baptist, Lutheran or Methodist, etc are biblically sound. And yet more than this is that Christianity is an intelligent faith based in accomplished fact. As Christ demonstrated in His very life that there is life eternal by resurrecting from the dead 2000 years ago, and said that to accept Him as a personal Saviour we will be like Him, and so it be in just simple faith. But this simple faith is a fruit-bearing faith with all the fruits of the Holy Spirit. (Galatians 5:22-24) Saved Ephesians 2:8-9/ Romans 4:4-5/ Titus 3:5...not by works but by His grace.

I think Community Church would be appropriate for you. But, denomination really depends on the church currently attended. Both Methodist and Lutheren are excellent choices. You might also like Catholic, Episcopol or Presbyterian. I am not recommending Baptist per se as they tend to be more riid with views and don't believe really compatible with your non denominational experiences.
Yeah! But what do I know? I'm an athiest myself. All I offer is what I'll call some open minded knowledge on the subject and I hope at least a high degree of neutrality. I try my best on giving good advice. Recommend you try a few before settling on any. See what suits you. I've been to lots of churches as well as synagogs, mosques and temples. Always something to learn. And if you have no knowledge of other religions, my view is you'll never really know your's is correct.
Faith: Bible churches are not completely non-denominational. I believe if you look most descend from Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and it developed from the American Baptist Convention.

I tell them I'm Born Again!
Its not of any "religion" I go to a Bible Church (Non-denominational)
I do believe all Christian Religions have good things but, I am upset at the apathy of the Church's now days. A lot of Church's believe they are a "Christian" because there "religion" is a Christian Religion. That's Not what being a "Christian" is!
I have been accused of being a Jehovah's witness, a Evangelical many different Christians and the only one God is interested in is the Saved ones. The Born Again Christians!
I believe many have turned people off and away from God....That is not God Fault, That is Man's fault!
I feel for them in a way because they seem burnt and are more willing to believe "religions" that were thought of in the 1970's before the Bible it self.
Its very confusing!
As
I told my nephew when he was frantically running around asking someone to pray at a family gathering, "Why don't you pray?" he said; Because I'm not "religious". What does that have to do with talking to God?

Being Born Again or a Saved Christian doesn't have anything to do with Religion.

Sorry to go on and on like this, I am just a little upset at what going on in this site with all the non-believers.

That whole non-denominational garbage obviously just serves to confuse, frustrate & mislead people. The truth is that so-called "non-denominational" churches actually hold to mostly historically Baptist/Pentecostal beliefs.

The names of denominations just give a person an idea in one word of what a person's religious beliefs are. It's not sacrilege if you just describe yourself as having mostly Baptist Reformed beliefs even if you call yourself non-denominational.

Of course in this postmodern age, a person is encouraged to pick & choose what beliefs he likes & dislikes even within the denomination they belong to. What wonderful things the privatization of religion has done for us [insert sarcasm here]!?

The lovely thing about being a Lutheran is that we actually have a set of Confessions based on the Bible & historically tested by time to point to & say, "This is what I believe & why." Not that all people who call themselves Lutherans actually believe & practice what's in their own Confessions, but at least we've got them.

It's Reformation Day! Hallelujah! Learn about what was given to the world & the Christian Church on Reformation Day 1517! Watch the "Luther" movie on DVD. Great start for an education on how God used Martin Luther.

Dude,
I attend a Non-Denominational Church at this time. We follow ONLY the BIBLE and have no man-made creeds to follow. I would tell them that I am a Christians just as the First Century Christians were. Have a great weekend.
Thanks,

I say that I am non-denominational. Also, we are called a New Testament Church and we say to them to read the book of Acts and that is us. Holy Spirit, speaking in unknown languages, casting out demons and all.

EDIT- I agree with Faith P up above.

Hopefully, you have faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.

That is the only faith that I know about and rely upon for my eternal life.

As far as what branch of Christianity you are, if you follow the entire bible and study and read it all, believe it all and try to live it as given by Jesus Christ himself, I would say you are just plain old Christian, which was more than enough in the beginning, and will continue to be enough in the end.

Just tell them you're Christian if that's what you are. The Bible does not mention denominations, what counts is what's in your heart, not what you call yourself or what the sign in front of your church says.

Dude,
Look look online at the basic beliefs of the main denominations and see which one matches you the most.
