Several reasons come to mind.

May be the truth. Wanting you to know before you guys end up at the restaurant together and you find out then.

Maybe he feels you've been ignoring him or not paying enough attention to him lately, so he wants you to know that others find him worthwhile?

Maybe he is a jerk and is bragging and holding it over your head.

Maybe he's totally committed to you and thought you would find it as humorous as he did when another woman found hom hot.

It basically sounds like to me that he needs his ego stroked just a little right now.

Guys are so confusing because they are always trying to figure out the ultra confusing women.

I tell my g/f when girls hit on me... She gives them hell about it later. She's a blackbelt. Usually she says something like "Stay away from my boyfriend you f*cking b*tch"... So, yeah. I tell my girlfriend, because it's usually her friends that hit on me. My friends don't.

And no, he doesn't want you to be over protective... He's just letting you know.

And no, he's not trying to brag unless you brag that guys are all over you.

No, he's not trying to make you feel lucky.

Just chill out relax. But I could be misinterpretting this, is he all stuck up and snotty sounding about it? Because, if he is, and he actually sounds like he's bragging, then, he probley is.

But I usually tell my g/f when girls hit on me. I say, "You know *Insert friends g/f's friends name here*? Well, she was getting very flirty with me tonight... I'm just telling you..."

^^That's how I sound.

Unless a guy is overprotective, he'll usually be really flattered when another guy likes his girl. My guess is this gal probably gave his ego a bump up and he wanted to let you know. Or maybe he's hoping you'll take it as a hint that he's worth a lot and flatter him or flirt with him more. I don't know. But at least he's not hiding things from you! :)

There are a few possibilities:

*he could simply be pranking you
*he might be fishing for compliments to feed his ego
*he might be trying to drop hints that he's actually thinking about cheating or has cheated
*maybe he is thinking that if he tells you about girls hitting on him, then you'll tell him when guys hit on you (insecurity)

One thing I'm fairly sure about: he is doing this for his benefit, not yours.

Maybe he just wants to tell you what is going on, just so that if it gets back to you then you don't jump to the conclusion it was him who was hitting on her. If he didn't tell you and it did get back to you, then you'd probably accuse him of hiding something when all he thought at the time was what you think now, that it is no big deal.

It could be a bunch of things... he may be genuinely honest, maybe it makes him feel better about his male ego, maybe he wants to see you're reaction to what you might say or do, guys are very hard to read... my advice don't try and understand it just go with the flow and take it day by day!!

I know that people say the jealously does not mean love....but to know that your girl or boy gets a little jealous when other people talk about you drives them insane. It's like saying.. "Dang she/he really cares about me" or "dang that turns me on how she/he be getting so mad." It's a crazy concept but soooo true.

He's feeling a bit insecure and needing you to show him that you are protective over him.

Somehow this is suppose to make him feel more needed by you.

He wants to assure himself that you would be upset if something happened to the relationship.

Maybe he's trying to be honest and upfront with you about what happened so you don't get ticked off later if you happen to find out about it.

I know exactly why?

Poor guy, he has a low self esteem and finds temporary flattery should you get upset or want to fight this girl, etc...upset.

But, we need to see the big picture..him and his low self esteem. Do you feel like baby sitting tonight?

I feel sorry for the next girl he does this too.

let go, otherwise..you'll get caught up in the wicked web he weaves....break away fast..
