I was watering some plants when my cat came racing past me with a black bird in her mouth. I got her to drop it and i put her inside the house i have put the bird on top of the shed, but when my cat goes outside she will easily get it agian....same if i put it in a tree. It would not stay in the tree anyway if injured.
My cat has two bells on her collar, but it doesnt stop her catching the defenceless young ones.

What else can i do?.

I understand how you feel I got 4 of the best hunters. I have had mice, of all sizes, shrews, birds, gophers bunnies even chipmunks all brought home to me. For some reason my cats like to put them on the door step as 'A gift" for the family. Which is hard to explain when you have a 9 year old son who can "SPEAK" to the animals he loves them and they love him. Seriously it almost scary. Sometimes they will bring a still live one into the house and "play" with it. My son will freak out every time. So I have to go on a rescue mission so far we have saved 4 birds and something like 12 mice. Oh yeah it's a great hobby huh? I wish I could do something we live out in the country. I couldn't keep my cats inside even if I wanted to. I too have put bells on their collars problem is the collars themselves never last very long they always manage to get them off. They are never to be seen again. I live just down the road from a house who have like 5 peacocks/ peahens. I am afraid one mourning I’m gonna wake up and find one of them on my door step. Next to very smug kitty cat. Too bad I couldn’t just get my son to tell them to knock it off. They understand and listen to everything else he says.

She is a hunter. She is going to catch prey. Don't put anything out that can attract them such as bird feeders, baths, etc. if you don't want her to bring it home. Only way to stop it is to keep her in 24/7. It is her nature. I have 1 out of 2 that brings me gifts 4-5 days of the wk since they are indoor/outdoor, the other one could have something walk up and slap him in the face and he would go "What?"

One idea would be to keep the cat inside. Cat's are going to catch birds if they can.

Keep her on a leash if she's outside.
It's safer for her and other animals.
Just make sure you tie it far enough away so she can't jump on top of the shed.

I refuse to let my cats outside unless they are on a leash.
That way they can't run off and get hurt or killed but they still have the ability to enjoy the outdoors.

I don't have a lot of respect for any wild bird the average lazy, fat, overfed house cat can catch.

Your cat is just following it's natural instincts. It brings you the bird to show loyalty. I would just let it be.
