What causes it and is it something i dont eat or drink enough of?And whats the best medicine recomended for this?And how long is the treamaent?

Mine started out yellow and then got lines of dark purple. The doctors had all types of expensive meds to give me and they said they didn't know whether it would really do the job or not but if it did, it would take some time. $ $ $. A friend gave me some-shoot can't think of the name. It is a lotions made for horses hooves and is made by the same company that makes the mane and tail shampoo you can buy most anywhere. The original stuff has something in it that cured me. I took a shower, dried my feet, rubbed this stuff over and under and at night and it went away quickly. It's a fungus of some type. The Mane and Tail people have changed the hand cremy (hoof stuff) so I don't know if the new stuff works but it's very nice thick hand creme and does help your nails grow. If you can find someone that has that old thick jar of hoof stuff, I'll buy it for a good price. . .

Kudos to Maureen S because that is exactly what it is and using the Vicks vapo rub does work and it will take a couple of months for it to get rid of it. I happen to personally know this because I get it occasionally and my doctor told me since I am diabetic and have had cancer and liver is compromised that the perscription that they have for the fungus will do damage to the liver and that is why I have used the Vicks. Also to keep the Vicks contained to your toe and toenail, make sure it gets rubbed in real good and put it under the tip of the toenail, I take and cut the thumb out of a latex glove and put it on the toe, mine is the big toe and it stays put! Good luck and give it a try, you will start to see the results in about a week. Keep cutting it back while it grows out fungus free.

You have a toenail fungus. There is something your podiatrist can prescribe but I heard it can effect your liver so you have to go for occassional blood work.
Some have had luck with Vick's Vapor Rub. Cut your toenail back as much as you can. Place Vick's on your toes morning and night. When the new nail grows in, it should be free of the fungus. Takes a couple months to be cleared.

It is a fungus and the treatment is a long process. Talk to your doctor about a pill that you can take once a day for up to a year. Your toe nail grows very slow and it just takes a long time.

Sometimes yellow toenails indicate a fungus infection.I have heard Vick's vapor rub will get rid of it.

oil of oregano found at the health food store will kill the fungus...just rub it on your toe nails and put a couple of drops under your tongue or in some juice.....it seriously is a cure all and its so good for you

um not killer diesese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!this is just fungus piling up on your toenails get this special ointment that can properly clean off this stuff go see a pharmacy or a foot doctor
