it won't hurt em a bit ! unless the skin is broken , or you're saving a 1/2 if so just squeeze some lemon juice and cover with plastic wrap , if they are whole then its a good idea to wrap in paper towels and place in a brown-paper bag ( same as a COOL , DARK ,PLACE ! ) when the avocado turns to it's dark stage , it's best to use whithin a couple'a day's to get the betterer-flavor ( ever try it on a warm tortilla w/lime and a fresh pico de gallo ? )

Store them in the refrigerator to prolong life but if you are going to eat them sooner, the counter is fine.

Try not to put them in the frig for to long because they turn brown like bananas,if that does happen just squirt some lime on them.

No. It slows down their turning black. If you keep them cool in the fridge they stay usable for a longer time than if you left them out on the kitchen counter. Wherever they are they will get overripe eventually.

They don't turn brown when they are whole.
There is something in the pit that prevents browning

Why would it hurt if they turn dark? Try it and see if it hurts. Apparently, it does not hurt you if you don't do it. Why cause yourself unnecessary pain? What's the point again?

I don't know much about avacados. Do they something when you put them in the dark refrigerator? Do they cry for help? If so it might hurt to put them in there. Otherwise please find somewhere else to put them!
