I just can't stop thinking about this old guy, my lil Boobah. I don't know if I am suppose to put names up where I took him but I gave you all a hint. The reason I couldn't keep him is because I already had a cat before Boobah and the landlord said only (ONE-CAT) that is why I had to give him up. This was so hard, for both me and Boobah . So if anyone out there wants to adopt Boobah, you know where he is. He is a Lil lovable cat , that loves belly rubs and loves to sleep with you. He meows very low, and stays by you all day or night he is a very dedicated cat. I did try to find him a home. No one wanted him.. I know now I made a big mistake and they won't give him back to me now. How can I get him back, or would someone out there adopt him?

I would have found another place to live. I would never give up my cats.

I feel for you as I know how much I love my cats. If your landlord said only one cat then how could you keep him if you could get him back? If you plan to move just to keep him then by all means, get him back since there is no guarantee that he will be adopted.

First, have you called/gone to the shelter and asked for him back? I am surprised to hear that they would say no as usually they do allow the previous owners to take them back. Some places require that you pay the adoption fee like any other person even though you were the original owner.

If they are persistent that they will not return the cat to you and that you are SURE you will keep him for the rest of his life then you could have a friend or relative "adopt" him from the shelter. This person could just pretend to be someone looking to adopt a cat and apply for Boobah and then give you the cat. Of course you should give the money for the adoption fee to the friend/relative. As long as this person is approved and the cat isn't adopted to someone else then you should get your cat back.

Please, if you are not committed to keeping him for the rest of his life then leave him at the shelter. Being removed from their home is traumatic to an animal and if he is brought back home only to be brought back to a shelter it may scar him. So please make sure this is what you want and that it is possible for you to do.

Good luck getting your kitty back.

Sorry, but I can't feel too sorry for you. Why on earth did you move into a place that only allows one pet? It's not that hard to find apartments that accept pets. And the fact you got rid of an older cat - which will be harder to place - well, doubly bad. And if this was a new rule at a place you were already at - then MOVE! So in other words, there was no reason to dump your pet - and pretty sad that you would.

Secondly, this site is international so you might want to be a bit more specific where you live.

What a tough situation. Is there any way that you can move into a different place where you can have 2 cats? Can you talk to your current landlord to see if there is a that you can get approval to have 2 cats.
Once you know for sure that you can care for this cat for the rest of his life. Talk to the shelter and give them proof that you are now allowed to have him. Please don't pick him up unless you can guarantee that you will be able to keep him.

Have a friend adopt the cat for you, BUT only if you can get an OK from your landlord to have another cat. Ask if you can put a deposit down for the additional cat. If not, either move or find him a home.

Don't break the apartment rules. If you want the cat back you might have to find another place to live.

have one of your friends or relatives go in and adopt him. But honestly, if you'd give him up once, I wouldn't take him back. Better to find a different place to live and have your friend go and adopt him.

i don't really like no kill shelters..... but if your cat is as sweet as you say then he will have no problem getting adopted. you shouldn't worry. And is the shelter you took him to PLANO NO KILL SHELTER?
