The World Financial Center is near where the Twin Towers stood, right on the water. There is a large development project of mostly tall apartment buildings just south of the WFC called Battery City. The land under these buildings is earth moved from under the original WTC site (lots of earth). The American Stock Exchange building is right across the street from what is now called "The Dig."
