If not, shouldn't there be? I ask this, because whenever you come upon an accident with a car and a large truck/SUV, there always seems to be alot more damage done to the car than the SUV. Another idea would be keeping SUVs and large trucks to the right lanes only, like they do with 18 wheelers.

There is a standard bunber height but sorry i don't know it off hand. It's there to help keep cars from going (wedgeing)underneath a SUV from behind. They have a bumber range from what i've heard. So that everyones bumber will contact at least part of each others.
And as far as the second part of your ? Keeping trucks to the right is not the answer. Idea for you to think about. If all trucks were to be goverened at a certain speed and not allowed to move out of the right lane, what are the chances of you being able to merge onto the freeway? BIG LINE OF TRUCKS BLOCKING YOU because we'll get a ticket for moveing over. I'm not against keeping trucks out of the far left lane on a three or more lane highway.
Fact for everyones reading.... of the accidents involving two or more vehicles where a truck is involved 71% of those accidents are caused by the car. Please give us the room to operate safely. We don't want to be in accident anymore than you do.

It depends on each State. In NY, the maximum distance between the ground and the bottommost portion of the bumper is 30 inches.

Anything after that and an Officer can issue a summons. This primarily applies to all of those "monster trucks".

Most States have laws stating the heights. Problem is, they do not enforce them. The 3 States I have lived in stated the bumper needs to be within 3" of the factory installed bumper from the factory.

to the best of my knowledge there is no minimum on the bumper but there is on the vehicles chassis as well as the headlights the minimum on a chassis is approximately 6 inches of clearance as far as the headlights go it goes by a chart for each vehicle what it should be standard and the minimum height if you should lower the vehicle
