I know it sounds gross, but you need to scoop it out with your pinky finger. You do this because if there's chunks in the mouth from the vomit, it could clog up the airway. You should have gloves on anyways

Cpr Mouth Guard

You need to maintain a clean airway, the best way to do this is to suction the airway, if the person has PE the airway will be filled with vomit and "foam" this is not a good sign but keep that airway clean. I understand if you are doing CPR alone that you will not have the equipment to maintain a clear airway so the best is to roll the person to their side and clean it out, I would advise not to stick a finger in there but as the saying goes you can't make dead deader so it needs to be done.

I am licensed in CPR and have a mouth guard which I carry with me. If a patient has vomit in the mouth, you need to stop, do finger swipes to remove the vomit so they don't choke on it. Also, turn the head to the side.

Turn their head and do a finger sweep. Once the vomit is clear of the mouth I would resume CPR.

Hopefully I have my CPR barrier with me! I carry mine at all times...just in case.

vomiting during CPR is a common thing. remember you are compressing the diaphragm, and sometimes if you don't have the head back far enough air goes into the esophagus also, add compression and you get vomit.
so before you even begin, turn them on their side sweep the mouth with your finger , then lay them back ,tilt the head back sharply and begin. if they vomit turn them qquickly to the side allowing it to run out ,sweep the mouth again, lay them back wipe the mouth with your hand or your shirt tail and resume breathing.thats all you can really do
the first time I did it I was on the breathing end and thee woman vomited in my mouth. I turned my head and puked down the side of her head and my arm ,wiped us both off real quick and started over.LOL I had to go on and get over it,it was her life at risk if I didnt. You get used to it and learn to ignore it.

You would want to tilt their head backwards by thrusting the jaw and turning the head to the side. If the vomit does not come out, sweep it out with your fingers to remove it and clear the airway. HOWEVER, if the patient has a head injury, DO NOT move their head as this may cause additional injuries to the neck

Turn your head to the side and scrape it out. Unless of course, you have a pump designed specifically for that. If you don't get rid of it, they'll obviously die. They can't breath already, and with vomit in their mouths/airway, there is no way they could start again.

You turn them on their side to allow it to come out of their mouth. Sweep the mouth with your finger if you need to. Then carry on with them on their back when you no longer see an obstruction. As long as the airway is clear, carry on.

Wipe it out with a gloved finger, turn their head to the side to allow the rest to drain, say a quick thank you to the guy who invented to portable face mask I keep on my key chain.
