I've heard that you have to find a quality brand so as to prevent mercury contamination and such....but what do they mean by that? wouldn't the stuff at the local pharmacy be okay? or do i need to splurge and get special 'premium' stuff? Basically, what do i look for to know i'm getting a quality omega-3 product? I just want to make sure that what i'm putting into my body is safe:)

Get an omega-3 supplement that says "Pharmaceutical Grade" or "Distilled".

Iceland Health Omega-3 pills are a GREAT example. You can find Iceland health Omega-3's at Walgreen's. Also, when buying a fish oil supplement make SURE it lists the fish they use by name not just "fish oil". For example, it should list either sardines, haddock, mackerel, salmon, or anchovy.

Hey,

I work with a Dietitian and she has me on supplements through Metagenics. Having taken supplements for most of my adult life I have become very picky. You can only get these supplements through a Dietitian or a physician because they are pharmaceutical grade. If you are interested in finding out more information my Dietitian's e-mail address is: molly_e_barnes@yahoo.com

I have also listed the Metagenics sight below so you can look into this a little for yourself.
