Cheshire is a county in England. The city of Chester is the county town and administrative centre for the county. Compare this to say Oklahoma City in the state of Oklahoma in the U.S.

But - be warned - there are several places in England called Chester. Make sure that this is the one for you!

Chester is in the county of Cheshire.

Chester is a city of which there are lots and Cheshire is a county.
The UK is divided up into many counties, some have a city that is the chief administrative centre for that county
i.e Leicestershire/Leicester and also other cities.

Chester is full of beautiful young people, I know, I watch the reality programme Hollyoaks. Cheshire, richer folk who are a bit (unless footballers or WAGS) less pretty.
