Serving God means different things to different people, simply because "serving God" can mean MANY different things.

For example, "serving God" could mean:
- volunteering your time at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen
- helping an elderly woman or a handi-capped person carry their grocery [or other] bags
- being kind to someone who is need of help
- helping someone in need
- taking action when you see someone has been wronged [like reporting child abuse]
- or any other thing that helps another person, or any action that is a "good deed"

All of those things [and so many more] are all ways we "serve God".

For me... I volunteer my time at animal shelters... I feed and rescue stray cats and dogs on a regular basis.... I always help a person when I see someone in need... I donate all of the toys and clothes that my children have outgrown each year, to the "Clothes Closet' [free clothes to those in need]... I donate canned food 2 or 3 times a year to a food pantry.... I make monetray donations to about 5 different organizations that help kids and animals... and more.. : )

People should simply try and help our fellow man.... in any way that they can -- by volunteering time, money, or other : )

In ALL these ways, we "serve God"....
: ) Hope this helps.. : )
: ) : )

Slavery.......huh? You know that is almost spot on. Slavery to the point of death. 11 of the 12 apostles were executed as was Jesus. Sometimes the sergeant in the foxhole has to pick someone to storm the machine gun nest and if you are a Christian it might well be you. Thats the meaning of the story of the young man asking Jesus what he would have to do to follow him. Christ said give all of your possessions to the poor and follow me. Not that Christ would have made him, he wanted to see if the young man would have. But of course he didn't ans sulked away, dissapointed. I have always felt sorry for that young man. If he had only truly known who he was speaking to I'm sure he would have given up everything including his life for the Messiah. Wouldn't you guys too (my fellow christians)

Doing His will and all that is commanded by Him and His Son Jesus Christ. One of His commands is to preach the good news throughout the inhabitited earth.

Commanded to Preach:
Matthew 24:14 14 And this good news of the kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations; and then the end will come.

Jesus disciples: Acts 5:42; And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.

Jesus talking: Acts 20:20; while I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house.
Preaching from house to house is the most effective way to reach people.

We are ordered to preach: Acts 20:42; Also, he ordered us to preach to the people and to give a thorough witness that this is the One decreed by God to be judge of the living and the dead

Serving God implies a life of service to others. Remember Jesus said whenever you did it to one of the least of these you did it to me. When I was naked, you clothed me; when I was in prison, you visited me, etc.

To me that is life - serving God by serving others - and not always looking for the biggest most splashy self-serving ministry either. That was the disciples foot washing example - we need to be lowly and humble enough to accept the smallest, most menial task - and always but always remember who we are working for!

Serving God to me is to follow his words & his teachings. To show love to others. It says God is Love & Love is God but do we really love each other?
I don't think people really understand what it means by serving God.

That differs from one religion to the next. Serving God involves doing what he asks of us as expressed in the Bible. What the Bible says is interpreted in innumerable ways.

But there is a trick to finding out the truth:
Many say the Bible contradicts itself. That isn't true if you're interpreting it correctly.
