You don't get a busy signal, nor, do you get put on hold, I know that you know that God is always listening. But we don't always get an Immediate answer to our prayers, and that tends to make non believers out of most?

u just have to trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. God knows the right decision to make although it might not be the one you want. You also have to listen carefully because God talks in whispers. Don't let Satan make you doubt.

It really depends. Your prayer life changes dramatically as you mature in Christ.

You come to understand God is not a genie-in-a-bottle ready to grant your every wish like the "Prayer of Jabez" crowd thinks that God just can't wait to shower you with every material blessing - new home, better job, bigger car, etc.

And later on you come to pray with a heart filled with gratitude as you start to recognize all the ways He has already blessed you and mostly what you want to say to Him is "Thank you, God" - or you know you made a mistake, did something wrong and you feel bad because He has given you a new heart with a more sensitive conscience so you want to pray something like "Lord, forgive me".

And then finally your most selfish prayers are along the lines of asking God to grant you peace - that peace that passes all understanding; or wisdom - wisdom beyond measure, the kind of wisdom that can only come from above.

And believe me then - you know I mean you absolutely know for 100% certainty - that He is answering those prayers - because you can feel His peace wash over you as you pray and you can sense the wisdom and understanding filling your heart and soul.

And I know this was a very long answer but the Spirit moved me so much I couldn't help it.

Thanks for letting me share!!!

A lot of answered prayers are not exactly what you prayed for. The answer He chooses is far better than the ones you want to choose, mostly because the answers He chooses are the most disciplined and a little harder to learn than the easy way of just handing out blessings left and right just because you asked. It's what's best for you that He can see and you can't always see so, it leads people to think that their prayers were not answered. They were looking for the wrong answer to their prayers. They were only trying to find the answer they wanted.

God has his own reasons for not giving immediate answers to our prayers. I cannot answer for Him but have you ever been in a situation wherein someone asks you a favor and you need some time to think about it? Well, I guess we should learn to be patient and to trust God. We may never understand Him but that is how faith works. You just have to believe.

All people have this gift (or is it a curse) called selective perception. I'm sometimes amazed by the ability of some people to "tune out" something they don't want to hear or to distort what they hear so it fits their preconceived ideas. God does answer all prayers...and like most parents, he says "no" or "not now" a LOT!...and like most children, many people either fail to hear the answer OR they think that God isn't listening (or doesn't love them) because they don't like the answer!

I agree with you that God is always listening to our prayers. Sometimes our prayers don't get answered and maybe that's for the better, because what we pray for sometimes may not be in the best interest of ourselves. I remember one time I prayed once, and just sat there quietly waiting to receive an answer. My answer wasn't a voice but a feeling of confirmation. I waited for a good few minutes. Sometimes we get answers but don't recognize them. Sometimes it's best to quiet our minds, be patient and open to receiving an answer.

I think it's God's grace that initiates everything. Human response whether good or bad follows. Everyone is expected to humble himself. Everything good smoothly follows which depends on how the person concern perceived it.

______________
There was a story about a man, lost in a stormy sea and was safely rescued by NATURE to an inhabited island. After couple of periods, he was able to survived. His only activity is to gather food for the coming days.

But one day while he was far away from his constructed hut he noticed from his location that a very great lightning flashed and later he also saw some smoke were swirling in the air.

When he was heading to his hut, he found out that his hut, full of his saved consumable food was burned. He begin to grumble blaming God about the event Why??? With that he attempted to commit suicide lying near his burnt hut.

Later, he was found by some people who landed in the island to rescue him. And he wandered, how come these people were able to reach that remote island and rescued him.

The rescuers said that the smoke hinted them to visit the island and they found him. And finally he was brought to his family.

You see, God have ways we can't understand.
Think everything He does for you is good. God is good all the time.
This implies you have roles to other people too.
With your own endeavors, you can't do it.
But with His help you can.

It's difficult to be patient and attentive enough for the answers to come. Sometimes the answers are not what we had hoped for. But I believe God knows what is best for my souls evolution. And so I wait and listen...

I would Agree with you Flannel, God is fiathful to hear our prayers, so,etimes he answers with silence, and sometimes an affirmative yay or nay. one thing we know for sure God is real he hears our prayer and as jesus said he will neerv leave or forsake us. if we have broken Gods law (ten commandments) Liying steling, lust, using Gods name in vain ect. The we have sinned against a Holy God and deserve his Justice, but God has proven throuth His son jesus that he cares, he cared enought to send his own that we might be saved if we will repent (turn from sin) and trsut in the Savior.
God Bless
