The description in Colossians 2:16-19 of cultic behavior is very similar to Jehovah's Witnesses. They are gnostics (i.e., less regard for the physical body as having value), religious elitists (i.e., make a ridiculous and very prideful amount of cultural noise regarding their abstenance concerning holiday dates, pledges, blood transfusions, etc., just as the Pharisees did in their day). They have elevated the importance of angels (Michael is Jesus) while having spurned the rightful place and position of Jesus Christ as God the Son (Revelation 1:13-18), sadly unaware that if they didn't do this it would be a threat to their prideful, elitist works-righteousness religious system of beliefs.
Just listen here to what these verses in Colossians say, as you think about the tenants of Jehovah Witness doctrine and their character. "Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day. These are a shadow of things to come ; the reality, however, is found in Christ. Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize. Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unscriptural mind puffs him up with idle notions. He has lost connection with the Head, fro Whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow. Since you died with Christ to the basic principles of the world, why, as though you still belonged to it, do you submit to its rules: "Do not handle! Do not taste! Do not touch!"? These are all destined to perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings. Such regulations indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-imposed worship, their false humility and their harsh treatment of the body, but they lack any value.

What do you mean? The majority of all Witnesses today look FORWARD to being resurrected on the Paradise Earth.
Romans 8:16, 17
"The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ, provided we suffer together that we may also be glorified together."
It's like asking a bird if it's a fish or a fish if it's a bird. Some things are just "known".
Are you a Russellite or another off-shoot? If I recall correctly, you claim you've never been a Witness and aren't disfellowshipped, but your speech gives you away. The term "elite" has not been used for a very long time. I only run across it when I read the older material, so I'm curious.
No disrespect intended.

Neither the bible nor Jehovah's Witnesses believe that individuals of the anointed class are "elite". Even today, a typical governmental administrator is not assumed to have character superior to his non-governmental fellows.
Those who are anointed as members of the "little flock" are certainly not the only Christians who are led by holy spirit. In their case, the holy spirit somehow informs those who have been selected for service as governmental administrators of God's Messianic Kingdom by Christ.
(Romans 8:16-17) The spirit itself bears witness with our spirit that we are God’s children. If, then, we are children, we are also heirs: heirs indeed of God, but joint heirs with Christ [to serve as kings and priests in heaven]
(1 John 5:6-8) And the spirit is that which is bearing witness, because the spirit is the truth. For there are three witness bearers, the spirit [which informs the person] and the water [by which the person would have been baptized] and the blood [the emblem used at the Last Supper Memorial], and the three are in agreement.
Note that Jesus and the bible contrasts the "little flock" (who have the heavenly hope) with the "other sheep", the vast majority of whom are gathered chronologically later.
(Luke 12:32) “Have no fear, little flock, because your Father has approved of giving you the kingdom [to administer as kings and priests].
(John 10:16) And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; those also I must bring, and they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock, one shepherd.

That is not true - G-d gave the rest of mankind 7 universal (Noachide) laws to follow, and doing these, along with kindnesses to others and Torah study, would make them "righteous gentiles," this is not so much "religion", but a way of life. People who live by these laws have a share in the "world to come."

Supposedly, there are a total of 144,000. This is the total number for all time. There are supposedly very few left alive. When they pass the Lord's Supper around each year, the number who actually take it are very few.

Why is it that members of the Governing Body have been disassociated by lesser non Governing Body members? If they are elite wouldn’t they be immune?
No Witness is perfect, non claim to be. Nor has the Watchtower (one of their publications) ever claimed to be fool proof.

Because they think that they are the 'one true church'. There are so many 'one true churches' out there, I stopped counting after a while.
