If you let your guard down, that is when you are most likely to get a bad staph infection. Your subconscious relays a message of saftey to your auto-immune system and it all goes downhill from there. Hopefully they will not have to amputate...

The flesh eating virus from the Staphlococcal family has become more and more common these days.

Staph is actually a broad category for about 80 strains of the bacteria. MOST of those are not a problem--we all have staph bacteria in our bodies and on our skin. It is a few of the superstrains that are the problem--including the so-called "flesh-eating" bacteria.

You can take precautions if you are going into the hospital for a surgical procedure--that's where many of the MRSA (penicillin family-resistant) staph infections come from. Don't use antibiotics when you don't need them--they won't help you if you have a virus infection, for instance. Overuse has contribute to the staph problem.

Wash your hands several times a day, don't pick at your face or rub your eyes often, and stay health. That's how to help prevent a staph infection

What is your fear helping?? Nothing. We all have staph on our skin, some strains are worse than others. Use GOOD, frequent handwashing and live your life. There are far worse things to be afraid of.
