OK, I got out my Hebrew dictionary and aleph, lamed, mem can mean either "muteness" or "silence", or else "a violent person" depending on the vowels.

These are arabic letters, Alf Lam Mim,
The Discussion of the Individual Letters
The individual letters in the beginning of some Surahs are among those things whose knowledge Allah has kept only for Himself. This was reported from Abu Bakr, `Umar, `Uthman, `Ali and Ibn Mas`ud. It was said that these letters are the names of some of the Surahs. It was also said that they are the beginnings that Allah chose to start the Surahs of the Qur'an with. Khasif stated that Mujahid said, "The beginnings of the Surahs, such as Qaf, Sad, Ta Sin Mim and Alif Lam Ra, are just some letters of the alphabet.'' Some linguists also stated that they are letters of the alphabet and that Allah simply did not cite the entire alphabet of twenty-eight letters. For instance, they said, one might say, "My son recites Alif, Ba, Ta, Tha... '' he means the entire alphabet although he stops before mentioning the rest of it. This opinion was mentioned by Ibn Jarir.
All in all, when yo utranslate them to english, you wont say A L M, yo uwould have to actually say it out, therefore, some scholars said it is to show this is an arabic Qur'an and it will stay Arabic.
Only Allah Knows.

alif lam mim in arabic or alif lamed mem in aramic
Arabic language very much interconnected with the Aramaic language
When we read letters in (alquran alkareem) like " alef lam mem" and "alif lam ra"
We find that meaning in Aramaic,,,,There are words in Aramaic with those letters
And their meanings identical to its location in the Qur an alkareem

Depends on who you ask. Jews believe that Isaiah 53 should be read after Isaiah 52; the section is talking about Israel. b'shalom

This is arabic not hebrew. It is in the quran. Allah did not say why he put some letters at the beginning of certain surahs. No one knows. Some scholars have guessed that may be they are to catch the readers attention.
