then he must have a physical form.
Do Christians believe he has a physical form, if so a physical form must be located somewhere, where is it?

Jocko, I've never heard the word image used to refer to characteristics, usually it implies something visual...wouldn't the bible say "in his own character", if that's what it actually meant? Surely you can't waltz around *correcting* the bible?

Adam was created in God's own image... MALE! God expected Adam to mate with some of the animals that he created. They both looked hard one by one. They had plenty of time to do it while Adam was naming ALL the animals that God created. Adam must have tried an ewe or what have you, but no suitable "help meet" or mate was found for Adam. So AFTER God created man unto his own image God admits a glitch in his creation that something is "no good" about creating the man alone! So he creates Eve as an afterthought! This is the honest Bible truth.

God Admits twice in Genesis 2:18 and 2:20 that "it is no good for man to be alone" so after verifying that they couldn't find a suitable mate for Adam among the animals God creates Eve...!!! (Genesis 2:20). By the time Eve was created Adam knew A LOT about sex! So when Eve was presented to Adam he was not really a nerd!

In essence, being created "in the image of God" refers to the characteristics of the human spirit and the ability to make moral judgments - things that are not found in any animal species, even those to whom we are said to be closely related. In answer to why so many ethnic types, if all the people on earth were to intermarry freely, and then break into random groups that kept to themselves, a whole new set of gene combinations would emerge. Even today, within a particular people group you will often see a feature normally associated with another people group. For instance, you will occasionally see a European with a broad flat nose, or a Chinese person with very pale skin or Caucasian eyes. Most scientists now agree that, for modern humans, "race" has little or no biological meaning. This also argues strongly against the idea that the people groups have been evolving separately for long periods.

The word rendered "image" in the Bible frequently relates to idolatry, but this is not always the case. God, in creating man, said, “Let us make man in our image [or, shadow, semblance], according to our likeness.” (Gen 1:26, 27, ftn) Since God’s Son stated that his Father is “a Spirit,” this rules out any physical likeness between God and man. (John 4:24) Rather, man has qualities reflecting, or mirroring, those of his heavenly Maker, qualities (such as love, justice, wisdom, and power) that positively distinguish man from the animal creation.

Having the “image” or “likeness” of God means, in the simplest terms, that we were made to resemble God. Adam did not resemble God in the sense of God’s having flesh and blood. Scripture says that “God is a spirit” (John 4:24) and therefore exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God, insofar as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death.

The image of God refers to the immaterial part of man. It sets man apart from the animal world, fits him for the “dominion” God intended (Genesis 1:28), and enables him to commune with his Maker. It is a likeness mentally, morally, and socially.

No, that doesn't follow. "Image" does not mean "copy." To say that humans were created in the "image" of God just means that both share common characteristics, like reason and free-will. It does not imply that God is a physical being.

We were made in the image of God, which is referring to a spiritual sense, we could interact with God and walk with God etc etc.

But thanks to bad preaching we lost that after the fall we are made in the image of Adam not of God therefore inheriting a sinful nature, which basically shows that this was it is referring to the spiritual.

God is omni-present, God is spirit, so God is everywhere and in everything.

Moses saw God's backside, God also placed His hand across Moses' eyes as not to blind him as God passed by. Heaven is all around us only in another dimension. The only way to get there is by dieing a physical death. But your soul will live on for eternity, with God, or with the devil in hell. That choice is yours and only yours.
