i dont think the school counselor is helping me, he told my mom that he thinks i have depression. and i have to say i agree with him. i know somethings wrong, but i just cant place it...like i cant describe it in words.

he just acts like im fine, made it all up, just here for attention and tells me to do everything different. well its not working...im not feeling any better. but i feel dumb going to see him so much telling him the same thing over and over. he dosnt seem to get it, my problems are more then "skin deep".

should i keep talking to him? and try to get through.
or...just ignore it, and hopefully things will resolve themself.
help. please.

If you are a teen, the hormonal changes your body is going through often times creates a type of depression.

What suggestions has he given you and have you followed them?

Are you eating healthy (no sugar, fried foods, alcohol), getting enough sleep (teens need between 9-12 hours per night), exercising (you need to do something daily, walk, bike, hike, etc., it raises the endorphins in the brain that make you feel good).

Also, don't take drugs, unless they are doctor prescribed medications. Teens that take street drugs run a high risk of causing emotional and psychological problems when they use drugs and alcohol.

If you make a whole-hearted effort to do things differently to help yourself and you still don't feel right, as your parents to send you to another counselor outside of school for more help. I suggest you see a female counselor too.

You need to see someone who knows about depression. People like your counselor, who don't understand depression, think that you can just snap out of it, or that it is just a phase. You need to see a mental health professional. Your school counselor is not qualified to help you.

Ask your mom to see another therapist or an psycologist if she thinks you have depression. If your problems are more than skin deep, and you think you might have depression, you need help now! Go ahead! :) Hope I helped!
