My pet cat bit me on the ankle after I accidentally stepped on it. I'm not really sure if it bit me or scrathched me but my brother said he saw the cat bite me. There appears to be no damage or bleeding on my skin but I just wanted to make sure.. HELP!

Unless your cat parties with wildlife on a daily basis, the chance of her having Rabies is little to none. Don't worry about that.

Your pet should be current on all vaccinations--so if they are, then no you can't get rabies from him.

He'd have to have been exposed to an animal that HAS rabies to be infected with rabies. Is he indoors? Then he's got zero chance of having the disease.

Besides, you said the skin wasn't broken, so no, you haven't been bitten and nothing can infect you. Rest easy. You're fine. Just don't step on him again. You can't blame him for biting at you, what you did probably hurt him a lot.

You can only catch rabies from a bite from an animal that has rabies. Surely your pet cat does not have rabies (you would have noticed!) and surely you have had your cat vaccinated against catching rabies from other animals yearly, it's the LAW, regardless if your cat is an indoor or outdoor cat.

No, I don't think you have rabies. If you got your cat from the wild, maybe it does, but if you got it shots and everything than you don't. No worries! And if the cat didn't really puncture your skin, then it doesn't matter. Hope this helped. :-)

Unless your cat is rabid you do not have rabies. Cat bites can get infected though so take care of it.

if your cat goes out all the time and does not have a rabies vaccine...who knows.

if it didn't break the skin though no.

if you still aren't sure go to the doctor.

If your cat is up on her shots, it's quite unlikely that you'll get rabies from her bite.

You're fine. Natural reaction when you stepped on his foot. No open wounds, don't worry. Your cat is not vicious. Very, very seldom would you encounter a rabid cat in a domestic situation.

Well you got your cat the rabies vaccine RIGHT? Then no problem.
You might still need a tetanus shot, especially if kitty goes outdoors.

If it is your cat and its shots are up to date then you have nothing to fear. Keep your wound clean if there is one. The cat was protecting itself in the only way it knows how.
