I have an HDTV with two HD inputs -- one HDMI and one component. However, I have three HD devices: my cable box, my DVD player/receiver, and my xbox 360. Can I get an A/B switcher or something like that, that I can plug the xbox and the DVD into, and then switch between them? As it is, I have to physically unplug one to plug in the other... kind of a pain! I did a quick internet search, but I get things that are hundreds of dollars. Can't I get something like this for ten bucks at Radio Shack or something?

That is what AV receivers are for. AV receivers will have 3-5 component inputs.

If you don't want to buy an AV receiver, then you will have to purchase switch. But, it's not going to cost you $10. Gotta spend a little more money than that. HDMI switches are going to cost more than component switches.

HDMI switch is about $100.
Component switch is about $80.

They sell them on RadioShack's web site. They might carry it in a store. There are cheaper ones and more expensive ones. If you are going to spend this kind of money, I would really invest in an AV receiver. You will get better sound, support for multiple connectors and switch audio as well.

If you do a component switch, make sure it supports HD resolutions. Some component switches only support 480i or 480p.

The others have the right idea, you need a switch or A/V receiver. The receiver with HDMI and component switching built in is the more expensive, but overall better answer if you want better sound, since it will support proper surround speakers.

But if you want a switch you should know about the OPPO HM-31 HDMI 3 in, 1 out (V1.3 HDMI) switch with remote control for $99 US, and the Terk HDMI-31 auto-sensing switch ($59 US). See the links below. Gefen is ridiculously expensive! You may find other options using a google search (HDMI+switch).

I have a similar issue. I bought a Psycholone HDMI switch for $200.

- The BluRay player refuses to work with it.
- The HD-DVD player shows video, but then it goes blank after 5 minutes. I have to switch to a different input, then back
- My CATV box was hooked up with component cables so I tried adding HDMI through the switch. On the component output it said "HDCP error" and dropped the component output to 480.

So an HDMI switch ... is a tricky thing. Buy local and be ready to return it or play around.
