I have found a stray little kitten, ehh...about 1 month old. Very skinny, light, and you could see all of it's poor little bones. It could hardly breathe. Inhaled about once every five seconds. It had dark mucas/gunk running down his whole face from his eyes. His nose looked like it was being crumbled up and it was flaking off. He was shaking. Me and mom were concerned, so we picked him up to get some help. I did not want to leave the poor baby to die. I picked him up carefully, as lightweight as a feather, and we decided to go down to the animal hospital at the corner of the block. Unfortunatly it was closed. My mom was getting upset. She wanted to make sure I got to trick or treat, but I did not care. Obviously the poor kitten was dying. There is an animal shelter that takes in sick animals about a mile away. We did not take him into our car, for it would get it muddy. We walked all that way and dropped him off. The workers took him in and said if it is a girl they would name it...

Stephanie if a girl (my name) or Stephen if a boy. I was so happy. It ended up having pneumonia and an upper respiratory infection just by looking at the poor thing. They took it into a special room and said I could visit it anytime I want since I saved it's life. I thanked God for having this kitten be safe, but I feel guilty I didn't tell the shelter I wanted to keep the kitten. My mom did not want it, but I love this kitten and I feel guilty I did not take it. Should I feel guilty? Did I do the right thing? Please tell me your opinion. Thanks! I'm going to visit it this weekend to see how it's doing.

Since your mom did not want it you should not feel guilty but ask her again when the kitten is well. She may not have wanted the kitten because she was afraid that you would get too attached to it and be hurt if if died. It is great that you cared enough to do all that for the animal since many would have just let it die! Good for you!

Don't feel guilty at all! You did a wonderful thing - you saved a little life! You even WALKED it to the shelter - what nice people you and your mom are! Be proud of yourself! I wish there were more people like you!
If you do go back to visit the kitten be prepared that he/she may not have made it. Little kittens are very fragile. If the kitty was too sick to be saved, then the shelter would have humanely euthanized her which is just a small shot that lets them gently fall asleep. Don't feel bad if that happens. Know that because of you that little kitty didn't have to suffer and die a slow, painful death. So whether kitty makes it or not - you're a real hero. (((HUG)))

Good for you! You definitly did the right thing. I would have done the same, or i would have felt terrible for leaving it to die. Since your mom doesnt want to kitten, it doesn't look like you would get to keep it. Don't feel guilty, the kitten is in good hands at the shelter. Ask you mom, if she changes her mind then the next time you go to the shelter buy the kitten! Thank you for saving the little kitten's life! Good for you! DO NOT feel guilty! :-)

I don't think you should feel guilty, because you did the right thing for that poor little kitten. If you really want to keep the kitten, tell the shelter when you go to visit, and then try to convince your mom to let you have the kitten

Wow, you should not feel guilty a all! You should be proud of yourself, like I'm sure your mom is. You sacrificed a night of fun to help out a sick kitten. You sound like an amazing person. So your mom didn't want to keep the cat, not everybody is a cat person. But you did what you could and you have to know that the vets are going to do whatever they can to find it a happy, loving home. I know it won't be with you, but you should just be happy knowing the kitten is going to have a happy fullfilling life with someone who will love it. Good for you. The world needs more people like you. Booya!!!!!

feeling guilty would just be a normal human trait. i always feel bad when i have to bring cats to the shelter because i always want to keep them.
This kitten u found is going to need a lot of help and a lot of money to get better right now. you did the right thing. i guess it depends on ur age. if ur mom still has a say in what comes and goes into your house u have to listen if she didn't want to keep it. Its hard but i know how u feel because i most recently gave up a kitten i found to a shelter but i didn't have the money. Its okay to feel this way but it might be better right now.

I think you did the right thing. You and your mother were great--and you missed trick or treating. The shelter will find him a good home. Maybe you can visit the kitten sometime soon. Thank you for being such a caring person.

You did a wonderful, caring thing by making sure that kitten got the medical care it needed.
It is understandable that you would like to keep the kitten, but you need to respect your mother's wishes.
The kitten will find a good home and if you keep that thought close to your heart, then I know you will feel good about what you did.

You shouldn't feel guilty. You did the right thing! It would have been worse if you had just left it there. You're very mature for your age and maybe if you can talk to mom and let her see that you're going to be a responsible and loving pet owner, she might agree to let you keep it. Go visit the kitty with your mom and maybe she'll love it to! Good on you for what you did to help save that kitty!

Don't feel guilty. The kitten is getting the care it needs because you and your mom took the time to care.
