In Genesis Chapter one God said........
"Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth."

Now the interesting thing that I found was that God used the word "us" so he was speaking in a plural form. Now being Christian it seems like it would mean God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Since Jews and Muslims believe in just One God not the son or the holy spirit. Why do they believe God would say "us".
No one would say to themselves let us go to the store....it wouldnt make sense. anyways..... Peace =)

Why would he say it to the angels if the angels cannot make anything only God can.

1) from the Midrash Rabbah he is talking to the angels of the heavenly, just as a king consults his ministers, but then acts alone- for in the next verse it uses the word "vayivrah"- and he created, not "vayivru"- they created, showing that a singular God created man, nobody and nothing else was involved.
2) He is talking to mankind in the future. Since man is God's partner in creating the world, he addresses the future, hinting at how man will complete the creation of man, through the performance of Bris Milah (circumcision). This also explains why on the next verse it has the singular, "Vaivrah", since mankind is not there to help him, he is only just creating him.

Similarly, in the spiritual realm, the Shabbos is the final act that completes the spiritual realm- and that is once again in the hangds of man to perform and thus to choose whether he will be a partner with God or not.

John states that in the beginning The Word was with God. The word latter becomes flesh and is known a Jesus. As the word is God's first creation and all things came into being from though the word, God is telling Christ that man will be created in their image. Not the physical image as most would like to believe, but instead, in the spiritual image. Humans where created perfect in the beginning. Unfortunately the ability to choose was one of the gifts that the Creator bestowed upon both us and the Angelic host. Human chose to rebel, as did a portion of the Angels. The results of this rebellion are still evident. Poor choice on Adam and Eve's part. The Jews and Muslims both believe in the Holy spirit, but believe it to be a tool of God, given and removed from individuals to accomplish a specific task, and not as a sentient being.

1. This is an easy question most people think is hard. There are two options--G-d was speaking in the royal we, or He was speaking to the angels, who have the same form and were created before humans were.

2. Re: Dead Sea Scrolls--they proved the HEBREW version of the Tanakh wasn't tampered with. The TRANSLATION is vastly different from the original Hebrew.

3. Semantics.

Rabbi S.R. Hirsch explains the use of the plural "let us" as the "Plurus Majestic" like a king who speaks in the name of his kingdom. (The Christians cite this as a source for the Trinity.) Judaism explains that God consulted with the angels in order to teach us to consult with subordinates, and not to make all decisions on our own. Of course, the Torah always provides a built-in guard against misinterpretation, and the next verse (in Genesis) describes - in the singular form - how God created man.
In G-d's image means that people have the capability to be God-like and not animal-like. We have free will, although it is limited - as opposed to the unlimited free will of God.
As for Jews and Muslims; we do not believe in the same books. Although Muslims claim they believe in the Jewish Bible or in the OT (the two are NOT the same), their Quran falsified ALL of the Torah. The Quran negates the Jewish

From here we learn the humility of the Holy One, blessed be He. Since man was created in the likeness of the angels, and they would envy him, He consulted them. And when He judges kings, He consults with His Heavenly household, for so we find regarding Ahab, that Micah said to him, (I Kings 22:19): “I saw the Lord seated on His throne, and all the host of heaven were standing by Him, on His right and on His left.” Now do “left” or “right” apply to Him ?! But rather, [the passage means that] these [angels] were standing on the right to defend, and these [angels] were standing on the left to prosecute.

Well this also contradicts Christianity. Don't Christians believe in One God. The concept is, The Father, The Son and the Holy Spirit are all ONE.... So why use US. Why don't you answer it first.

I would need to get out my concordance and look up the exact meaning of the word US to see what it meant in what ever language it was written in. But I think you are right!!! How awesome to know this!!! Remember that Jesus came to save the Jews first, and when they turned on him, he gave forgiveness to the gentiles also. The Jews are his chosen people. Why do the Jews and Muslims not get it? I don't know and it says in the Bible that we will not no all here, thus it requires faith...and we will know all when we get to Heaven. So in the mean time this is a good spot to start a conversation with someone who is not saved! It is our duty that we spread the word and pray for all who are not saved especially our enemies. This is why many will not like us. Praise God there are people like you questioning your future! Peace Bro ; )

LadySuri and L'Chaim are correct. I assume you've heard of the famous line that Queen Victoria uttered--"We are not amused." Well, it's the same thing here. Even today, politicians talk in the first person plural (just listen to any debate) when they really mean "I".
