right away, I know this sounds corny, but my mom was the first person I told.

He told his best friend that day or the next day. He told his family about 6 months later. I told my a friend, about a week after getting engaged and my family about 6 months later, but only after he told his family. Why did it take so long? Well, when I asked him to marry him, we decided to give it 6 months before telling everyone, so that we could think and talk about it again from another perspective, you know of, 'this is going to happen' rather than, 'this may happen.'

My fiance told his mom and dad when he bought it and a couple weeks before he proposed he showed his best friend Matt and his then gf now fiance the ring he had bought me while I was outside smoking. I was so suprised that Jeriann knew that he was going to propose and she didn't say anything! Especially when we had been talking about how our guys weren't popping the q. Now we're both engaged and it seems silly how much we went on about it. =)

Lol HTB told his Mom a few months before.
As for the first person he told afterwards....his best friend.

Well my mom and dad, maybe my brother and his girlfriend, my fiance's parents and foster parents, his friends at work, a buddy of ours, a few relatives of his, knew he was going to ask me before I even said yes!
Basically everyone but me knew he was going to propose LOL.
So when he got back to work from vacation, he informed everyone that I said yes, as well as telling his family on his side and me telling my family and my work finding out as well.

We went out that night, and one of our friend's noticed the ring, so that was the first one that "knew". I called my parents the next day
