I'm researching it, but I'm confused if they know WHAT happens in the body to cause this.

Can anyone help me?

It is not well understood, because it is extremely complicated. I don't think the idea of a chemical imbalance is fully settled (just because the chemicals are messed up doesn't mean that's the root cause, and not everyone is messed up the same way ) That's why you can't figure it out.

they dont know what causes it but from my family id say its genetic and is passed down through generations although there are many froms to bipolar disorder i personaly think they are all genetic

Yeah, it runs in my family also. I suppose eventually they will isolate it to a gene. Until then, I'm just very glad that meds help alot of us function in society.

well they don't know for sure what causes it..they know that a chemical imbalance occurs but they don't know what caused it to occur

everybody has some sort of bipolar disorder, every one can't be happy every day.
