Hello again all. My pups are having some troubles today, oldest (and biggest) of the three started heaving earlier and coughed up some foamy liquid. I called the vet and she said not to worry about it as they are being weaned and getting used to solids and water. They have been eating solids for a few weeks now but this week mom rarely feeds them, so they are mainly on solids. They are eating well, pooping well, playful and energetic and I thought nothing of it. Well, now the runt did it. Has anyone ever experienced this before. I am consitering taking them to the all night clinic but they are all bouncy and doing fine other than the liquid (it was a very small amount)

Before too many people yell at me that I shouldnt have bred without knowing much.....their mother is a dog I rescued. 2 weeks after her rescue she gave birth. She is scheduled for her spay at the end of Nov and the pups have homes for when they are 12 weeks with contracts stating they must spay/neuter.

miss~ I was actually on the phone with the emergency vet the minute after I wrote this. They told me to keep an eye on them and if they are still playful and doing well then take them to their regular vet in the morning.

If the pups are alert and active, I would wait and see if it happens again before I started to worry. It is worry some when puppies vomit but as long as they are not lethargic and this is not something that has gone on for days or repeatedly, it is not an emergency.

I would not worry unless the vomit is a large amount and coloured (yellow or green. This could becaused by worms also. You can worm them yourself without incurring a large vet bill. If they are not doing this quite frequently then there is no need to worry. It sounds like they are fine if they are playful and energetic. If they were sick they would lay around doing nothing.
No one needs to yell and get upst with you. Rescuing is a great thing and we all learned about our pets at some point in time. We were not born knowing all this stuff. We also leant by asking questions. You did and are doing a great thing.

I won't yell at you, but little pups can turn on a dime, especially with some conditions that we are not too aware of...I think you ought to go ahead and take them off of their regular kibble for 24 hours, give them all some plain yogurt. And watch them, IF you notice any loose stool get them to the vet immediately....if they improve and stop the foaming I would suggest trying another food. Also check your bittch for mastitis.

To my knowledge I know kind of a lot about animals but this is a tricky question. It seems unusual but if there playful I wouldn't worry about it. I would if in your case get it checked just to be on the safe side. After all I am not a vet.

Sounds to me like they are fine, just like a human baby they are probably burping up or tossing up a little of their milk/food when they eat. if it's not bothering theme and you don't see anyting to be alarmed about, I woudn't worry about it. I'm assuming that they have been wormed by now. Sometimes worms can cause them to do that as well.
Don't get to worried, just keep an eye on them and I'm sure they will be just fine.

this is nothing to worry about. iv had a littler myself and its totally normal. the bigger ones will be fine, but watch the runt, if he/she coughs up too much food each time she can loose weight and get sick. so keep an eye on that one. but as long as he/she keeps most of his food down he should be ok.

If they are doing fine otherwise, I would keep an eye on them. It could be the little piggy ate too much. Or just getting used to the big change over.

sounds like kennel cough to me, i saw it a lot while i was at the humane society. kind of like a cold but for dogs.
it is contagious between dogs, so keep an eye out, but you won't get it.
usually it goes away in time, but check with a vet to double check if you need any medication since they are so young.

however, it could be them just getting used to solid foods. keep a watchful eye.

This is normal, the vet is right, they will be fine. And I hate when people on here give the you didn't spay or neuter bashing without knowing the situation. Cheers!

It doesn't sound too serious to me. Keep a close eye on them and if you see any other problems or things get worse get hold of a vet.
