gaiares--- Here is a simple way to cook rice if it wasn't simple I couldn't do it.
First measure the amount of rice you want to eat. pour into a bowl run warm water in to it.Wash it by stirring it around and rubbing it in your hand the white you see will be starch the tint to the white will be dirt or dust.
drain water off and wash again.drain again and pour rice in a sauce pan, spread it out level in the pan add cold water until when you stick your middle finger in the pot barely touching the rice the water reaches the first joint of your finger. Bring to a boil,
lower heat to a simmer let the rice simmer
until you see little volcanoes forming in the
rice turn heat down to the very lowest setting your burner has. Put a lid on sauce pan for 5 min. Remove from heat stir rice with a fork and season rice to your taste.
This will work for 1 cup of rice or 20 cups of rice. Just increse the size of pot.
HOPE THIS HELPS WITH THE RICE COOKING jim b

You are funnnny! Rice is so easy to cook. Rice cooker is available in any part of the world; have the convenience of using one and you will forget your shallow frying pan.

Surrender your cook books and pots & pans, you are not allowed to abuse food until you learn the basics of cooking. My advice is either take a crash course in cooking, get married within a week or prepare to starve. There are no other choices.

What do you plan to do with it next?
Rice needs liquid to become edible.
You could make a rissotto with chicken stock.
